  1. Which ridings are those 8 in Quebec? The polls aren't showing anything even close to 8. I thought I was generous with 4. Geoffrey, I got that number of 8 seats from Gregg Allan. I know nothing of Quebec politics but the likely seats would appear to be: Pontiac Lois St Laurent Beauce Lotbiniere-Chutes plus: Megantic Compton-Stanstead Levis-Bellechasse Portneuf-Jacques Cartier Beauharnois-Salaberry Shefford And then theres Lasalle Emard - the ex PM's riding ps can someone walk me thru how to QUOTE A PREVIOUS POST PROPERLY, Thanks,
  2. Thanks guys, keep it coming. I agree that - like everything - it has some biases and that some figures are somewhat misleading. I would really like to hear some more comments from Dippers and Libs about their solutions for dealing with our mountain of National debt and the $30billion plus we spend to service this debt instead of so many others things that we could now be enjoying. And also their opinions on how we got to this place. Even if we manage to spend 10 Billion per year to pay down our National Visa card it will still take 40 years ? ps, Thank-you so much Mr Trudeau, I think the wrong mountain was named after him
  3. Since when did it become the Government's job to baby sit the kids that two people decided to have ? I raised 4 kids without any hand outs and they now all work, pay taxes vote PC and raise their own kids. You have to get a license to drive or have a dog but not a kid, why is that ? I demand to have a Dipper follow my dog around with a shovel and plastic bag - great "make work plan, huh ?
  4. I'm beginning to sense a Liberal melt-down in the offing and so here are my predictions based on DemocaticSpace.com plus a guess at the number of close seats that may also see the light. LIBERAL PARTY: 60 CONSERVATIVE PARTY: 158 (including 8 from Quebec) BLOC: 61 NDP: 28 Independant 1 ( MB)
  5. I was looking for info on who really started us down the road of higher taxes and debt as we keep hearing this blamed on Mulroney when in fact it was that slimeball commie Trudeau and I found this site. It's a very interesting site loaded with great info. Does anyone here know who is behind it ? Underground royal commission Take the test - The TEST Nice charts about our fiscal mess on this page and the next: Fiscal mess And scariest of all this one that Libs may not want to look at. Growth of Government
  6. "Lefty nitwits eh? Real intelligent calling anyone who has left of centre views names. And to generalize that all people with left of centre views would embrace polygamy is a stretch and somewhat demeaning. I'm sure most mainstream left of centre people wouldn't support polygamy." So it's OK to paint all Conservatives with the religious right, bible thumping anti gay anti abortion brush but not to genaralize about lefties ?
  7. I wonder how many Professors at Ryerson College are conservatives ?
  8. So Mar tell us how you feel about that Pakistani Nuclear scientist selling Nuke technology to North Koera, Iraq and Iran. Just leave it up to the UN ? Doesn't this concern you a little? Sure Bush is a cowboy with no clue about foreign affairs and was given bad advice but at least acknowledege that the Libs in Britain went along with him for reasons that we do not yet know of. What chance do you think there was of getting UN approval when the Russians and French had such a good deal going with Saddam?
  9. There was a time when a Lib government with the collusion of the left leaning media could have made some of this garbage stick. But there is one aspect of the media that they can't control and it's right here - the INTERNET. Listen to some of the stuff that Peter Kent has been saying and you'll understand, bye bye CBC.
  10. Lets not foget that Colonel Ghadafi has now seen the light. As for the vast quantities of oil in Iraq, one of the worls's oil experts Matthew Simmons said that in his view there wasn't much left there. His new book is pretty interesting and makes Canada's position in the world re Oil and Water looks pretty good. Twilight in the Desert
  11. The Libs in UK wanted to negotiate with Hitler and in hindsight looked like idiots. The French Libs in Quebec fought conscription even to help the French get thier country back from Hitler The Libs in London went into Iraq with Bush and in hindsight don't look so good. The UN really - you've got to be kidding - yea they really went to town in Ruanda, Cambodia and were such a big help with the food for oil program and lets not forget the kids in west Africa hacking off breasts and arms and legs and oh lets not forget the great job they're doing on Sudan. Yep, no more reichs!! Wake up. There's none so blind as those who refuse to see. Good grief.
  12. He'll be remembered as yet another Martin stiffed by fate.
  13. Good post JS....I'd agree with everything you said but I wonder if Government jobs weren't automatically union jobs if they would still be so keen on more government.
  14. Geoffrey, I'd question this premise of yours - LPC Pros:-Track record on keeping Canada fiscally sound. that conveniently ignores our national debt of over 500 BILLION, largely at the hands of Liberals or their brilliant fiscal management of the GUN REGISTRY, The HRDC scandal or of Adscam. For a small modern country with vast resources - usually stupidly sold as raw materials - and with the best location in the world for trade, you'd think we would be doing better than Taiwan, Holland, Denmark or Japan - all overcrowded and with no natural resources. We should have a national PIGGY BANK of several hundred billion by now. I'd fault all of our politicians for having no national vision beyond the next election.
  15. Hey Proud, here's a letter written by a non-political guy like you who put it quite well IMO - Letter I'd suggest that you ask yourself which is a more effective and productive way to get things done and to create wealth in a country have it done by Government or by Private Enterprise. If you think Government then the NDP & Libs who think more and bigger government should get your vote. Think Air Canada vs West Jet Canada post vs Fed Ex Privately run education vs public education Good luck.
  16. If you don't think that there is a lot of rule bending and watching your ass and manouvering to ensure your position in Ottawa, you're dreaming. Naturally everything would be denied but we all know how it works. I have no proof but I have my suspicions. :
  17. Only an idiot would not recognize just how biased the media can and has been. Lots of things can be done, not the least of which is the kind of questions, the order in which they come and the time allowed to answer them. Just ask yourself how many reporters that work at the CBC have a conservative viewpoint ? Good grief.
  18. Eureka, can you flesh this statement out a bit " I find it hard to comprehend how anyone can lose to this treacherous hypocrite, Harper." What treachery and what hypocrisy are you basing this on. Try to keep it in line with the relative levels of expectations of behaviour found in Politics - the game of compromise. Surely you are not going to tell us that you believe that the Libs or Dippers are so squeaky clean?
  19. There's been a shift to the right that Canadians have been very slow to catch on to. Starting with Reagan and Maggie and even Gorbachev and the Chinese "got it" that having a society of welchers and blood suckers isn't gonna work - even the Germans just clued in. You forgot Belinda and the CBC, heh heh.
  20. I agree but it also could have been the RCMP's decision to campaign against the Libs and their views of Justice that have worked against the whole point of having a Police Force. Ask yourself - if you were a cop and the people you charged kept getting a slap on the wrist or worse, kept shooting at you and your fellow officers - who would you vote for? The other point was Paul's brain fart on the NWC which basically allows the SCC decision to allow Private Health Care to stand in perpetuity.
  21. Try this one which gives a few:- Election Predictions plus the H & K one that Shoop showed above:
  22. Lib USA could always move to Cuba, I hear that over there the COns never get a chance to get in power.
  23. But none of those solutions would address the main issue, which is the majority of Canadian voters are unrepresented in Parliment simply because their votes don't count. And people wonder why most peple don't vote. True but it would be a good foundation on which to build.
  24. I agree that a PC majority is a pretty tall order. They're pretty much maxed out in the West with 70-80 out of 92. I doubt they can get more than 5-6 in Quebec or 10 out east. Equals 80-90 Which means that they need 65 Ontario seats which will be a pretty tough nut to crack since the knuckleheads in Toronto get to choose 22 MP's.
  25. Black Dog said "Elected Senates and fixed electon dates are nothing but band aid solutions." I'd respectfully disagree since the ONLY reason that PEI gas 4 seats instead of the 2 that it shoud be is because they have 4 Senate seats, Same for NB, NS and NF all of which have far too many seats per person. Another example: BC and Alberta have the same population as Quebec but have only 60 seats to Quebec's 75. Election results would be very different and much more democratic if the West had 95 seats and Quebec had 70 seats, the Maritimes had 22 and Ontario had 125 seats - based on one seat per 100,000 population. Fixed election dates would also make for more fairness in the process.
