  1. Thinking I was getting an excellent deal on Gatorade ( $ 21.89 for a case of 24) at my corner Costco store, I used to practically live on that stuff. But once I found out that the same case of Gatorade costs only $14.59 in the U.S. (under 18 Canadian), I can not justify spanding that extra 4 bucks so it's back to running on plain water again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know what you must be saying to yourselves, if that's the way he feels about it why doesn't he just stop jogging? Oh, no, not me. I'm in no hurry for that final disappointment, for I know just as well as I'm standing here talking to you, when that Chicago Marathon comes I will be there, and I'll be ahead of BillC, bettering his personal record of two hours and thirty five minutes ... saying to myself ....... Grolsch anyone?
  2. I read it. Ronald Reagan was a giant compare to Mr. Mulroney, so I figured that if ANYBODY deserves sentimental credit for persuading Gorbachev to tear down the wall, it's the man who said ... "Mister Gorbachev, tear down this wall", Ronald Reagan. The fact is that the Russians were going to tear it down no matter what!
  3. "Party officials said the four people who signed the statement appeared to have supported Belinda Stronach. Brian Mulroney built two consecutive majority governments on Quebec support in the 1980s." Brian Mulroney ALSO supported Belinda. So did Mike Harris, and if I remember correctly so did Preston Manning and Ralph Klein. That was a protest vote, and all these VIT's (Very Important Torries) are just waiting for a messiah to bring the Conservatives to fruition. And should Mario Dumont be chosen to lead the CPCers, don't even bother betting on him in the federal election because high rollers like Brian, Presto, Mike and Ralphie will screw up the odds and all he'll pay is the required 1 to 9.

  5. Even if this is true, isn't it how one is faring compared to the Jonses that counts? I drive & shop in the U.S. regularly, I've got a NEXUS pass. And what I have found is that today just about everything in the under $100 category is cheaper there. Even the damn Costco prices are lower in Washington State than here in BC!
  6. You know what I think? I think that had she won and gotten a few years in the primeministerial chair under her belt, she'd be widely know as the "Most Honest Politician of all Times" today. Nobody would ever make comments like ... "LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE" ... about her. And not only because she always wore skirts.
  7. Wrong time for Kim to be honest, that's for sure! My favorite one so far is where Brian Mulroney gives his evaluation of Chretien for criticizing the Tories over free trade and then proceeding with NAFTA. Said he: "Only a mean, dirty bastard would do something like that or a f------ stupid one. And you know what? He's both."
  8. In today's NP David Frum talks about the French. About how they have created a category of 'intermittent' workers - actors for example (Michael Harding would love that) who draw benefits from the government when not at work, displaced factory workers who government classifies as 'disabled' so they can collect money, workers who are permitted to retire at age 55. In the meantime Canada is seriously discussing extending the retirement age beyond 65. I wouldn't call that better, let alone "a helluva lot better".
  9. I was quite amused that he would dare to try to take the credit for something that even his buddy, Ronald Reagan, would never dare to take any credit for. About Ottawa reporters he was quoted as saying: "A phoney bunch of bastards" who refused to give him credit for brokering a deal between Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev and President George H.W. Bush that led to the Berlin Wall's fall.
  10. He said: "If you're not liberal when you're young, you have no heart. If you're not conservative when you're older, you have no brain." The same thing!
  11. Canada's standard of living at 87% of the U.S. my foot ! 70%, on the best day!! LLL
