It seems axiomatic that a just society should not operate in a fashion that concentrates the vast amount of wealth with a small fraction of the population. That is the case in Canada, and is becoming more so every year. The get a job rant from the right ignores the fact that there are not jobs available for many, even a growing number of college graduates, and even if there were there would be little change in wealth distribution.
From1999 to 2005, the wealth of the top 20% increased by 43%. The wealth of the bottom 20% declined by 70%. (www.progressive-economics.ca/2006/12/07/ wealth-distribution-in-canada/). Is that the kind of country we want Canada to be?
