  1. Saying a country is soft on crime is something that I can accept as a premise and I can look into and want to work to elect the appropriate leadership that takes the issue and works at solving it. By adding the LIBERAL tag to the title shows your bias and shows that you are not serious about the issue of crime or being soft on it but that you want to hang this on LIBERALS and you suggest by that the other parties have no skin in this at all .... which is absolutely bogus. Being soft on crime is a very motherhood statement. In a country with laws which have a judiciary and which enlists the people to listen to the facts and to arrive at a sentence and that gets adjudicated and the sentence passed. Every society struggles with right/wrong/penalty/how to administer it/for how long/how severe a penalty/how long until someone is deemed to have paid for their law breaking/etc etc etc. I find it ludicrous to start the discussion with tagging something as LIBERAL or CONSERVATIVE or NDP etc etc etc. That is what the politics in the US have degraded to. Trump and his ilk, and there are plenty of the Trump mold here in Canada, use grievance and hate and labelling as their reason for why they should be elected to the highest office in the land. OK, so let's say you hate LIBERALS or you hate CONSERVATIVES or you hate one of the other parties and hence your grievance now has an anchor, it was them that did it! But that anchor is what never resolves an issue, all it does is put your party and you as the promoter of your party in a seat of power where your party can then do as much of the soft on crime crap as they want because they have now convinced themselves that they are right. Right because they chant that they were put there by the people (e.g., they got elected but they could really care less about or really have no ideas about how to fix the soft on crime issue). Where are the suggestions for the solutions to an issue. When do politicians and party followers insist that there be concrete ideas that will resolve an issue vs just the complaints and grievances that the other party caused this so don't elect them elect us even though we have no ideas how to fix it either! I hear many complaint from CONSERVATIVES particularly from the mouth of Pierre Poilievre but I do not hear much regarding proposals as solutions! Again, Trump in the US has this same approach ..... complain and make everyone feel like they have been cheated and done wrong by so elect me, Trump, and I will make it all go away .... and look what they have in place as POTUS, the biggest LIAR convicted felon ignorant of the law and someone that could care less about the issues or the voters or the public or anyone else. It is all me my mine in the US and truth be told that is exactly the direction that the Conservatives are going here in Canada ..... complain enough and you will get elected! Where are the Conservatives proposals/solutions?
  2. I find it really funny for people living in a Canadian province (Alberta) to indicate that they will leave if the Liberals win! Funny that. I know of no laws that prevents anyone from leaving Canada. Albertans like any other Canadian are allowed/permitted/invited/encouraged to travel from Canada at any time they want. They may select their destination, pack their bags, and go! Nothing is stopping them. So, if the Liberals win then I expect there to be four things happening in Alberta (I was born in Calgary so I have no animus in anything I am saying .... it's just the truths of the matter) ... thing #1 - Less whining from westerners because there will be fewer of them, less moans and groans about their oil or about those blue eyed Arabs out east or that Trudeau sucks yadda yadda yadda (truth be told if there was a mirror out east that westerners looked into when they moaned they would get the same back about PM Harper or Poilievre from the east, from Quebec .... what goes around comes around) ... thing#2 the Alberta health system will be able to afford what they have in a much better way as there will be less crusty vaccine deniers in Alberta to trigger/inflate/promote viral infections ... I think that Texas would be a great destination for anti-vaxers to live (you see when you get vaccinated you not only protect your own loved ones but you also prevent the spread of a viral infection .... this is not news but it is true and it is as true as telling flat worlders that the world is shaped as a sphere) .... thing#3 if the Liberals win and Mark Carney becomes the PM of Canada then it would be safe for everyone across Canada and in Alberta to acknowledge that Steven Harper did NOT fix the 2008 financial crises but that Mark Carney DID .... Harper may have had Mark Carney in his 'advisors' group but it was not Harper that fixed things, Harper may have 'had' Carney but it was Carney that understood the issue and on Carney's plans/recommendations/actions Harper allowed Carney to do his job and it made things right .... Pierre Poilievre and Harper on their own devices could NOT have fixed that financial issue and they would be incapable of doing anything about the Trump tariffs (except to complain and moan and quickly renegotiate with Trump by bending the knee and kissing the ring and then finally threatening to leave Canada when Trump takes over the country as the 51st state) .... thing#4 there is NO thing #4 as the first three things are sufficient to make my point .... Poilievre and the Conservatives are best at what they do best and that is just to moan and complain .... they have NO real solutions they just have complaints .... OK I understand they hate the Liberals, they hate easterners, they hate anyone that wants them to get off oil and move to other energies like wind or solar or hydro .... you know like renewables ... like moving to renewables and getting off oil is something far to advanced and difficult for anyone in Alberta to understand or grasp or even get a job in and be able to make a living at .... that it is way to complicated for those people in Alberta to learn how to make it work .... maybe there is something in the water that has brought Albertan intellect down so low ... like maybe lead in their pipes or something!
  3. These on again off again tariffs by Trump will continue. Trump has shown and it is clear this is how he keeps everyone off balance in the chaos as he goes from hitting Canada with tariffs so no body in the US is watching / questioning him 0n the other crap he is doing there. Trump is using Canada as that carnival husker barks 'nothing up my sleeve' and 'keep your eye on the cup with the ball under it'. Trump does not care what effect his BS has on anything else other than his me/my/mine and how he can make out with the power and the adulations and the grift of fleecing the US population of funds to feed his narcissism! Canada is the tail to the Trump wagging it! That is if Canada let's him. Which we shouldn't. We see that there have been just today layoffs within the steel industry in Canada. There are delays and stoppages in any investing in the industries within Canada because of the uncertainties while the Trump on again off again tariffs swing from pillar to post week in and week out, always hanging over our heads! There is a hesitance to take on new orders without knowing the costs and this is the right thing for a company to do. It is not good for Canada but it is prudent for the company not to place an order without know any certainties! So, the Federal and Provincial governments all, in concert, have to remove that issue of having unfilled slots on the balance sheets so that we keep the facilities operating to their best and making sure that there are no further layoffs here in Canada. There has been talk about the ring of fire and about and east pipeline and about stockpiling steel and aluminum so that the refineries are kept busy. Talk talk talk! So, government, fill the order sheets. Put on the books these programs. Make the guarantees to the industries that you will make good on the productions of steel and aluminum. Fill the empty spots on their order sheets. Do not take in any more 'off shore' steel or aluminum into the country. Do not allow the US to get entered on the order sheets ..... fill those order sheets with Canadian requirements for the products. Tell the US we are BUSY taking care of the needs of Canada and Canadians! Instead of waffling about whether we could or should build an easterly pipeline or whether we start any facilities on the west coast or the east coast for shipping our products overseas whether that be LNG or steel and aluminum or lumber or pot ash or rare earth minerals or agriculture or any other products Canadians have just pull the plug and make the commitments to our steal and aluminum industries and put the orders on their order sheets and lets get moving on these things we all know we will need sooner rather than later! We put BILLIONS into fighting an unplanned and sadly very destructive pandemic. We all around the globe were caught with our pants down and yet we in Canada did manage to spend unplanned money to try and mitigate the issues arising from the pandemic. We extended the funds without really knowing what the end costs would be. We made mistakes but we issued funds and we tried hard to stem the tide. We were not sure if the spending of these funds were right, in the correct areas or not, if the spending would be abused, if we could every recover the funds, but we did know that if we did nothing or if we hesitated we would surely suffer as a country. Well, IMO a similar 'CANCER' called Trump is infecting us and we need to take all steps possible to avert the problems caused to Canada and Canadians by this CANCER! And that means we should, as with the pandemic, direct funding towards the industries within Canada that will fend off the ill effects and sickness the loose cannon of Donald Trump is putting on us. Trump will not be any better in a week or a month or next year! Trump is Trump and we need to make sure he is not the one directing whether Canada and Canadians suffer from his insane actions! We are not blind. We see and know what to expect from Trump. We have seen Trump before and we know what Trump does. Only if we let Trump 'wag our tail' will we be impacted by Trump and his chaos and his ideologies and his on again off again tariffs! Trump has shown us that he does not have our interests at heart and we know he does not abide by the agreements he has signed so why do we try and work it out with Trump. Sure we need the tariffs gone but whether Trump takes them off or puts them on later or even threatens to enact them why do we remain on his 'roller coaster'? Let's allow the ties to the US fray and unwind and they may even sever, but we need to make sure we take our own destiny into our own hands and invest NOW into Canadian big projects! The time for more study or more thinking or hesitation is over, let's pull the plug and take the plunge and go for it!
