"...A Direct Threat To The United States Of America..."
Eddy replied to Eddy's topic in Canada / United States Relations
"...e\was? Man - programmers today are just getting sloppy..." Wow CdnFox, you & others of your ilk sure are smart like nothing...! Have either of you dared to play the game of "Solitaire" alone yet -- or is even just the thought of that still proving to be far too challenging for your individual craniums to even contemplate undertaking...? Besides, it's always so much safer & comforting just to lie prone in your foam rubber wallpaper-lined cell, wearing that jacket with the 60" long sleeves isn't it...? Go to sleep now. The bogeyman isn't here anymore to frighten you... -
"...Well in fairness it IS smarter than some of our left wing posters here..." So that can only mean that you lose each & every time by default only...which hardly comes as any sort of a surprise to me as you're far less than even a "one trick" pony.

"...New york state is not in florida Eddy.." So who even said that it e\was...? Can't you even read, either...? -
"...I have to say, watching the bot respond is interesting..." CdnFx you really have nothing at all that might be insightful, or of any intellectual import, to share with others here, do you? I guess calling somebody a "bot" is the acme of your deep, pervasive wit & wisdom, isn't it...?

"...Who's Logota...?" Only the fat-fingered typist knows for sure... šµ

We sure do seem to have descended into the "cultural depths" of phishing robo-calls in Canada, haven't we...? Not a day goes by here where I don't receive at least one -- sometimes as many as three! -- such solicitations originating from call centres within the Indian sub-continent. The heavy accents & the background noise of other callers is a dead giveaway. Nothing "racial" being implied here whatsoever, so rein-in your politically-correct horses. Thus far I've refused the the ready, willing, & more than able assistance of Punjabi VISA, Punjabi Amazon, Punjabi Border Security, the Punjabi branch of the Canada Revenue Agency, to name but a few. And enlisting any support from CRTC to stop these intrusions is pointless because...well, there just isn't any support to be had. Even though an increasing number of these scammers somehow use locally-based fake numbers, I guess the CRTC still considers them all to be "off-shore", hence untouchable. I used to take delight in stringing these individual callers along, but I guess they've grown wise to my tone & mannerism in that regard because they now simply hang-up the line on me. So it's come down to this all being yet another feature of the Canadian culture & in fact, more than boring & annoying, both.

"...If the surgeon was a Harvard graduate and I was Jewish, I think I would prefer my local butcher..." Hence the critical need for that "...colour-blindness" that I referred to, Logato...! šµ

It must be just awful for someone like him to be born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but saddled with a completely vacant mind as to what to do with his life. Obviously he likes to toy around with the accoutrements & paraphernalia of other cultures so, but it's simply not personally satisfying enough, for any length of time. How lucky for him that by the grace of the gods he fell fortuitously into politics, because he tried -- & ultimately failed -- in all of his other "life's callings". That's why he'll never ever take that long last walk in the snow like his father did -- because he has absolutely nothing left to fall back upon. Politics took a shine to him (albeit for only 8 years so far...but counting) & he basked in the glow that it generously bestowed upon him. Sadly for him that glow is fading fast -- only he lacks the forethought & insight to recognize that reality. And he must take whatever next step(s) that he might because even his own wife & family have abandoned him. Almost a Shakespearean tragedy here in the works, eh...?
-
"...The self-satisfied look on his face should answer the question for you..." I'm able to look at it for only so long.
-
"...Oddly enough...that might just be the same person..." Yes, by under the most fortuitous of circumstances, it just might be. Maybe. I consider the situation to be not unlike the one single clever thing that any member bearing the Trump name said once npt too many years ago. It may have been either Trump's immediate son, or his son-in-law, who likened gambling to -- as he put it -- "...putting a lethally poisonous Skittle candy intermixed with a bowl of other Skittles. Would you be willing to take a fistful out of that bowl, & place it into your mouth...?" I'm not a gambling man. Are you...?

Is that not a prime example of "cultural misappropriation"...? That, and his Indigenous Peoples' tattoo that he sports on his shoulder...? Or is this merely the reincarnation of Mr. Dress-Up...? Or both...?!

Tell you what Michael -- you define it for me, then. And while you're at it, please pass-on any reference to where even one grave was unearthed to confirm its contents. Because so far all that I've ever seen in the media is a lot of talk & speculation.

Many -- if not most -- Canadians to-day are in desperate need of a refresher course in Grade-10 high school "Civics"...specifically the fact about deliberately discriminating against whomever it may be making a run for political office due to their gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, whatever. Indeed, such bias well-extends beyond politics, & easily enters into the realm of the appointment of police chiefs, judges, CEO's of major corporations-institutions -- anything. What I'm referring to here is the preconceived bias that, "So-and-so would be a good MP because he's obviously not of this culture..." or, "She'd make a great corporate head because she's a woman..." or, "He'd be a wonderful judge because he's of Indigenous ancestry..." etc. etc. etc. Such thought & opinion essentially asserts that the proverbial middle-aged white-coloured guy currently in the job deliberately & pre-meditatively disregards the issues & matters of all others, allowing only those relating to "...proverbial middle-aged white guys" to garner his attention. So by consequence, can we expect that the exact reverse will hold true if we specifically vote based solely upon gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation...? That a recent arrival into Canada from an off-shore culture will deliberately focus all of his energy & effort only upon the heretofore neglected others of his kind? Or that a woman CEO will base all of her corporate decisions to favour only the advancement past the "glass ceiling" in some way of other women? Or that an Indigenous judge will be more lenient toward other Indigenous People in his courtroom to the detriment of all others...? Again, hearkening back to high school Civics, an elected member of parliament represents all of his constituents, & not just those who may have voted for him. ALL of them. And the same applies (one would expect, & hope) to the selection of judges, police chiefs, CEO's, etc. We should be colour-blind of those over us, just as any & all in within places of authority should be essentially colour-blind relating to anything else beyond the fact that we're merely constituents, corporate executives, or cases in court. It's not me personally asserting this -- it's Civics. Think of it this way: you were crossing a busy street on your way to an appointment when a speeding bus accidentally struck you. You are now lying in a hospital operating room, about to receive life or death surgery performed by a prominent doctor. So tell me this: do you want this surgeon to be in that position specifically because of the doctor's gender, colour, religious faith, or sexuality -- or do you instead, prefer that surgeon to have graduated Summa Cum Laude from Harvard University, & been on the dean's list at the time of their graduation...?

"...When you cast your eye's to the sky how many pies do you see? Or are they all on their way to the fair..." Far & awat just an absolutely lucid & billianly-worded witty retort, Legato. Now, would you please be so kind as to explain its relevance here...?

"...So now explain how a discovered burial site is ad hoc..." Is it a proven-and-confirmed-beyond-a-shadow-of-a-doubt honest to goodness burial site, or just some interesting in-the-ground radar blips...?

ā...If Canada someday ever attacked Buffalo, Iām sorry, my friends, there would be no Canada the next day...ā Wow. And to think that a little navel orange from Florida was almost responsible for causing WW3...! -
"...Form yourself a Party promising Inheritance Taxes and riches from Natural Gas exports 20 years too late. See if you get one MP elected...: Herbie, of course -- that'd be political suicide, pure & simple. Not at all like that one PC "leader" did in an Ontario provincial election that ushered-in Kathleen Wynne, I believe. Remember...? He actually was foolish enough to ca,plaign on a promise of laying-off some 20%(?) of all provincial civil service jobs. I think it resulted in. him having his choice of jobs at a local Tim Horton's drive-thru window... No, the secret is to get you & your majority party elected into power first -- and only then do your bdding. It'sthe "Canadian way", after all..
-
"...Why would you use the word ad hoc to mean unconfirmed...?" Not to belabour this ad infinitum, but from on-line, "...In current American English [ad hoc] is used to describe something that has been formed or used for a special and immediate purpose, without previous planning..." I guess that's about as good a description of the latest in an ongoing series of the discovery of the umpteenth secret burial place, can get.

"...Poilievre would campaign against it and It would be axed the minute he was elected..." We can only speculate as to just what, exactly, Perre Poilievre might do once in power. But remember this: Chretien was vehemently opposed to "free trade" with the U.S.A., just as he was against the G.S.T. But once in power, the invisible "Black Hand" that holds true dominion over our national-international world order descended down upon him, & instantly transformed him into a compliant -- if not an enthusiastic -- supporter of both.

"...(tosses cards on the table)... I'm out..." Michael, don't feel so bad about yourself. This cabal up in Ottawa has that very same effect upon any of those among us who might lend some serious thought to their policies. And sadly, their policies are not worthy of too much of anty thought, whatsoever...

Incredible how so very many people to-day are incapable of comprehending even the most elementary of economic theory as it relates to real-time situations. I'm thinking here, of course, about the insane profits that Big Grocery has been enjoying -- and all at our expense in the check-out counter. Prominent reps from the industry would have us all believe that the high prices at the consumer level are directly attributable to high prices from their suppliers,. So how to account for the recod-setting profits when any capitalist worthy of the name who wants to remain in business would automatically just raise his retail prices to match these mark-ups...? supplier prices go up...? Retail prices are raised correspondingly. That translates to an unchanged profit level, does it not...? In layperson's terms, we're talking net zero here. So how ten to account for the recent stellar profits...? Easy. Simply raise the consumer prices more than what those pesky wholesale ones did. PERIOD. Why Canadian consumers -- & our federal "inquirers", too -- can't seem to able to grasp that reality goes way beyond my ability to think logically. Meanwhile, the oligarchy that is Big Grocery rolls in the piles of their new-found riches that cotinue to result from this "magic"formula, & taking great delight at the universal ignorance that is Canada personified to-day.

"...I was wondering about was about Canada's resources..." Michael, take your pick -- but the most prominent natural resource that comes to mind is oil. And of course Germany (& I believe Japan) appealed to Trudeau for exports of our liquified natural gas -- but the PM says there's no market for that resource of ours! And you have to just admire how he would denigrate development of our oil for the sake of carbon emissions -- yet it's perfectly A-OK for Canada to buy oil from places like Saudi Arabia, apparently rendering us to all be "worry-free" of any negative fall-out to the environment.
-
"...I don't understand that last paragraph..." Michael, think of those millions of dollars that he sent to Honduras --or was it Costa Rica...? Both, maybe...? -- to aid pregnant teens there...or the millions he committed to giving to the Philippines in to help them in the matter of carbon emissions...to name but a few. Anything's "tenable" in this country anymore. What are the disgruntled going to do about it, anyway -- vent their collective displeasure on Facebook maybe...?
-
"...Don't look for conflict. It's not there..." Oh, but you have found "perceived conflict" -- & you're obviously more than willing & able to effectively "mine" that perceived motherlode to the max, too.

We've all read where there are supposedly trillions of dollars in Canada that are currently locked away & held-up in soon-to-be inheritance & legacy bequeaths across Canada, & away -- without considerable & imaginative effort for the most part, anyway -- from the wringing hands of that covetous crowd that's housed at the Canada Revenue Agency. But what if this cash-starved Trudeau-Singh oligarchy was to be suddenly inspired to enact into law some sort of an iron-clad formal flat-rate inheritance tax...? For argument's sake, let's assume that this tax rate would be 40%. OK. That would automatically mean than your favourite wealthy, single uncle Billy -- who favoured you above all others in his will -- still won't be able to escape the long arm of the tax man, even in death. Well, not directly, anyway. That one-time $1 million cash allowance with your name attached to it...? Yours -- or whatever's left, after your writing a cheque to the C.R.A. for $400K, first. As for that $100K vintage Corvette sports car from the 1950's that he knew you admired so very much...? You can keep it --- after paying the C.R.A. $40K, first. And that $2 million cottage-villa of his up in Muskoka...? You can keep it -- but only once you've forked-over the government's share of $800K. Sweet deal, eh...? But impossible you say...? Can never ever happen...? Hmmm...I seem to recall Canadian folk musing aloud just exactly like that about the General Sales Tax some years ago, & the Carbon Tax only just recently, too. So who was it that said we need a vibrant natural resources base in Canada to financially insure the federal government's good oversight of public programmes, when we have this great "natural resource base" for the likes of Justin Trudeau to generously share with his many pet personal causes...?
