  1. It's conjecture, misinformation. Stop it.
  2. Some boys just wanna fight someone. Point em at a target, and they Go! They should never be in charge. Lol
  3. Nor should we pay attention. @Rue you are out of line.
  4. We're fighting a disease, not a dictatorship. Keep your priorities straight and your anxiety under control, pls. That knee-jerk "let's fight somebody" anxiety is the entire problem with the patriarchy, which was never meant to lead, but to follow direction.
  5. Wrong thread. Aren't you talking about the flu?
  6. Interesting, isn't it? Totally unrelated but a strange coincidence. One train track brought the government running to negotiate. Now the government is shutting down the borders itself and likely giving out what amounts to a universal basic income, for people to stay in their homes. A new normal? It's only been a few days. Most of us will survive. And it's nothing to do with this thread. : - /
  7. Ya, gee, maybe we could just stop buying their goods and using Chinese manufacturers.
  8. More suggestions here https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-businesses-workers-urgently-need-financial-help-from-ottawa-david/ "Mr. Dodge said the government was right to drop the waiting times for Employment Insurance and to make it more flexible but Ottawa needs to put together a temporary package for people in the gig economy and in the service industry who are self-employed and not able to collect EI benefits." We'll see what Wednesday's announcement brings.

  10. Oh stop diagnosing. Post the proper information links.
  11. Nobody's panicking Just preparing. Staying home. If you're not, you're a danger. I hope Trumpians have great rallies! Lol
  12. Everybody's staying home. Lol Pondering big picture things: We're physically isolated, but socially connected instantly. What does that mean for bricks and mortar business, who btw do NOT want you coming to their shops right now. Shop eat connect pay bills entertain online & delivery to door, At a safe distance, spray that pkg w alcohol. Survive. All while instantly socially business ... connected. Amazing times. STEEP learning curve. Enjoy the ride. Details will work themselves out, via scientific and entrepreneurial minds and investor confidence.
  13. I think domestic self- sufficiency is important, And peace.
  14. MG, I'm not as polite as some others here because I'm old and thoroughly impatient with such nonsense thinking that puts us all at risk. How many wars have been fought, people killed by such patriarchal idiocy?!! Look who's POTUS ffs! Now that's a clear sign that patriarchy has truly reached the bottom of the barrel. We need a war against stupid aggression, and that does not reside just in China.
  15. No, there is no public support for more nuclear. Solar and wind can be offset by hydro. Concrete construction has to change and new developments will happen fast. Yes, conservative thinking and fascism are a threat and need to be constrained and contained so they don't infect people. Slow thinking naysayers are a problem to themselves and others these days, and need to round out their thinking with other perspectives instead of just listening to each other and the anxious voices in their own heads. Fortunately there are many more brilliant and inventive people who can lead and cope with the 'chaos' of the fast and necessary change.
  16. Reduction in fossil fuel use and investment is a worldwide phenomenon: https://learningenglish.voanews.com/a/study-use-of-oil-other-fossil-fuels-for-power-at-turning-point-in-2019/5317048.html The use of fossil fuels for making electricity fell in 2019 in the United States, the European Union (EU) and India. At the same time, those areas all produced more electricity than the year before. That information comes from Tomas Kaberger, a professor at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. The United States, the EU and India are three of the top four largest producers of power from fossil fuels, such as coal and oil. Kaberger says the decreases suggest the use of such fuels could soon be coming to an end.
  17. Ya, Education minister @ 2:30. Then @ 4:30 ... Chief Medical Officer says no. ???
  18. So is Alberta. https://www.dailyheraldtribune.com/news/local-news/province-says-schools-wouldnt-reopen-until-at-least-september-if-closed/wcm/097019f1-f5ae-48d9-af56-b27e69240e6e "Alberta’s top doctor is standing by her call not to close the province’s kindergarten-to-Grade 12 schools." Oh! Education minister announced closure... hmm https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/covid-coronavirus-update-hinshaw-alberta-edmonton-1.5498467
  19. Refugees arrive, they are processed for status or return. It's not unusual.
