  1. Yes I agree: The white thugs spewing racist crap in Caledonia and in Ipperwash are worthless.

I heard that people of Caledonia ran some of those non-resident racist white thug instigators out of town this summer, throwing eggs and tomatoes at them.

    .

You obviously have zero idea of what's happened in Caledonia.

  2. In principle, generally I would support this. Personally I find it clearly morally wrong, however people should have the right in a free society to end their lives if they want.

In practice, however, I would oppose it if it came on the ballot for some reason. This is because, as a physician, I would not want to chance the slippery slope where the argument would be made that as public servants, we can be forced to perform assisted suicide. I would never want to be part of that myself, and while I'm sure at first any physician who wanted would be exempt, once something is established the goalposts always get moved. For the sake of the long view, I would want to stay as far away from that line of reasoning as possible.

hitops, and this is off topic, but why, as a physician, do you find this morally wrong? You agree that people should have the choice, and I'm sure you have seen people at the worst time of their suffering. Isn't ending suffering compassionately more important than the ethos of preserving life at all costs? I understand Hippocratic Oath is for the preservation of life. I also understand your concern about the evolution of what is acceptable and expected, but, as a physician, you are still entitled to choose and deny services for you patients, aren't you?

  3. Tourism is the service business that can bring in foreign money. If the businesses close the money would go elsewhere. This can be true even for Canadian tourists that spend money in Canada instead of going abroad because options exist here. Agriculture is another produces something - closing down farms due to lack of workers just means we import more food from abroad. That said, what you say is true for fast food restaurants and other local service businesses.

It is not as rare as you might think. A business wants to expand but has no internal expertise available to provide training. Without access to foreign labour these businesses would be in trouble. That said, skilled workers could be brought in as regular immigrants (i.e. no need for a TFW).

I agree generally. I am just pointing out that the program is addressing a legitimate need.

We don't need companies getting billions of dollars in subsidies, promising Canadians good paying jobs, then keeping TFW's here for five years. Complete BS for them to say they needed them here that long. Abuse of the tax payers money.

    http://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/labour-war-green-energy-and-foreign-workers/

Another egregous abuse. They are here five years, working in fast food, and are now unemployed. They have a child here. How is this scenario helping anybody but this couple and their child (a Canadian citizen?) become a burden on tax payers now...and even more in the future.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/temporary-foreign-worker-couple-pleads-to-remain-in-canada-1.2886951

If you want to bring in immigrants for humanitarian reasons, fair enough. To an extent.

"They come to Canada being offered the promise to become permanent residency, and the vast majority think they have the opportunity to do that."

Isn't that the opposite of temporary?

  4. hahaha you're the one who should be embarrassed those are definitions of Terroism. Try picking up a dictionary sometime, you might learn something.

    terrorism
    [ter-uh-riz-uh m]
    noun
    1.
the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.
    2.
the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
    3.
a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.

@PrimeNumber...for hijacking a seemingly intelligent user name, you are incredibly obtuse. Unless of course you are trying to obfuscate us with your sciolism. I doubt it though. Your nescience is a little too panoptical.

  5. Well, your understanding is grossly incorrect. Please provide a cite of a teacher union forbidding teachers from coaching. Many of us put in 300 to 400 extra curricular hours a year. That's 10 weeks, yet the teacher bashers go on and on about having summers, ummm, off. My summers are spent working, learning, and preparing.

Dude. Seriously? You're a teacher? I even posted it from a union loving paper, because I can just imagine the bs if I posted anything on here from a Sun newspaper.

    http://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/2012/12/03/ontario_teacher_protest_extracurriculars_in_high_schools_to_go_union_says.htmlhttp:

    //www.timescolonist.com/news/local/union-tells-teachers-to-stop-volunteering-cites-liability-concerns-1.1076148

K, I lied. Here's a link from Sun about my "understanding is grossly incorrect". Is "grossly incorrect" even proper English? I don't know...you tell me, you're the "teacher".

    http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/sunnews/straighttalk/archives/2013/03/20130305-084247.html

And because you get a Sun link, I thought a Globe link would round it all out. Most viewpoints covered.

  6. Oh I see, you havent a clue about elections and platforms and all that.

Well ok.....lets walk thru it, I will be brief

In late summer the writ was dropped, and that meant we were to have an election soon.

The Liberals had scandal upon scandal and should have been a cakewalk for the other relevant party the PC's to win.

Then the platforms came out, one of them (guess who) included a monumentally stupid position to get rid of a 100 thou civil servants /public workers. That next sound was the same party going "ow ow ow...I just shot myself in the foot!"

Then the people voted and the PC's who should have been a shoe-in were not only defeated but resoundingly so.

And that is how the PCs were worse than the Liberals .

Not hard to figure out.......for most people that is.

lol. Sorry, I assumed ppl posting on a political forum, even those of opposing views, would have something intelligent to add. Never assume I guess.

  7. Cite please, thanks.

"The prophet was asked about things which he did not like, and when the questioner insisted, the Prophet got angry. (vol. 1, no. 92) The Prophet got angry and his cheeks or his face became red. (vol. 1, no. 91) "Allah has hated you...[for] asking too many questions." (vol. 2, no. 555; and vol. 3, no. 591, Bukhari's Hadith commenting on Muhammad's reaction to hostile questioners.)

lol....just kidding Guy. You ask away. Ye of no vapid rhetoric and zero relative points.

“Islam has seven fundamental beliefs that every Muslim must accept as a part of his/her religion (the Emanul Mufassil, or Faith Listed in Detail). Every Muslim learns this formula as a part of his/her religious training.” *

    • “Belief in God” (the standard word for “God” in Arabic is الله—“Allah”)

    • “Belief in the angels” (both good and bad)

    • “Belief in the revealed Books of God”

    • Belief in God’s many prophets” (including Adam, Abraham, Moses, David, and others Christians and Jews are familiar with)

    • “Accepting that there will be a Last Day”

    • Belief in the divine measurement of human affairs

    • Belief in life after death

The belief that terrorism is justifiable in the defense of Islam, while less extensive than in previous surveys, still has a sizable number of adherents. Among Nigeria's Muslim population, for instance, nearly half (46%) feel that suicide bombings can be justified often or sometimes in the defense of Islam. Even among Europe's Muslim minorities, roughly one-in-seven in France, Spain, and Great Britain feel that suicide bombings against civilian targets can at least sometimes be justified to defend Islam against its enemies

    Support_for_suicide_bombing.gif

What the Quran doesn’t do is tell Muslims how to define that path other than to “avoid extremes”. And further compounding the problem is that the goalposts of what defines “moderation” change as our world changes. One year – say in the year 2000 – a moderate Muslim is a person who has a miniature copy of the Quran in her Volvo. The next, in 2001, it’s a Muslim who doesn’t kill people.

16% of the population of France supports ISIS. Even many "radical" Muslims find these guys too extreme.

    http://www.newsweek.com/16-french-citizens-support-isis-poll-finds-266795

    Some more stats. With links.

    http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2014/09/04/myth-tiny-radical-minority/

My whole point? You asked me to cite 80% of Muslims identify as moderate. I have my own sliding scale to determine moderate/extreme, but I think we can agree that thinking it ok to be a suicide bomber is a wee bit nutter? (Germany was the most moderate, saying 83% said it was never ok). All Muslims believe in Qu'ran. Which is where they get the "kill the infidel" crap from. And yes, peace passages also. But as you know, all earlier passages are meant to be discarded for later passages. Says Muhammad. But you knew that.

  8. Oh thats easy, the PC's had a win sitting in their lap , and then they stood up and whooops....they dropped the win and lost, soundly and convincingly.

So, again, you have no valid points as to how the Cons are worse than the Libs.

    Some are some arent.

Whats really stupid is how the PC's hgad a wide open net and all they had to do was pay attention and push it in. But nope, they tripped over their own feet and lost.

Tory made a monumental mistake, and he lost.

We'll be ok, indicators are suggesting we are climbing out of the rut. Liberal govt or not.

    Really? Again? ,

You really are a broken record about this aren't you? No valid points. Again.

  9.

Dont know what 'like' means I take it.

Nope. No clue.what it means. I understand you agree with this inflammatory comment. I also understand that you are still not making very astute observations.

    astute observations.

    astute observations,

at all. But hey, at least you can post emoticons. To imply you were being sarcastic. When in fact you are just ignorant. And I mean that in the literal sense.

    The literal sense.

    like1
    [lahyk]
    adjective, ( Poetic) liker, likest.
    1.
of the same form, appearance, kind, character, amount, etc.:
I cannot remember a like instance.
    2.
corresponding or agreeing in general or in some noticeable respect; similar; analogous:
    drawing, painting, and like arts.
    3.
    bearing resemblance.
  10. Sharia-like values ,

    Sharia-like values,

    Sharia-like values

    Sharia-like values

...reading comprehension. Its important. Let me be clear about that.

Let be clear. Hell, let me be clearer. When you state "Why can't terminal conservatives just live and die according to their own Sharia-like values and rules and leave the rest of society alone?:" you are directly comparing the two. As you have a very limited grasp on comprehending what you are reading, allow me to elucidate. He is/was comparing Conservatism to Sharia Law.

    Directly Comparing the two.

    Directly comparing the two.

Unfortunately, you do not have a grasp on "reading comprehension" and all that it entails.

Like making astute observations that make any sense.

    Make any sense.

    Make any sense.

  11. Well to be fair the definition of Terrorism extends to anyone who

    1. uses violence and threats to intimidate or coerce others.

    2. a person who terrorizes or frightens others.

So technically one could argue that anyone who frightens them in any way can be a Terrorist. The word is entirely subjective and in my opinion is used far to often. Let's just call them all criminals and be done with that stupid word.

I disagree with this on so many levels. A robber with a gun is a criminal. A terrorist with a gun is well, a terrorist.

  12. Yes because Harper has any more original thoughts than either of them.. He's a regular Paulius Zabotkiene

I find it funny how right-wingers in Canada's main talking point is opposing party leaders haricuts, like it means anything. Yet fail to mention anything about old Stevie and the ridiculous amount of hairspray and products it takes to comb over that "just-for-men" cowlick of his..

Here's a fun fact, Mr. Harper is the first prime minister in this countries history to employ a personal stylist, Michelle Muntean, whose duties range from co-ordinating his clothing to preparing his hair and makeup for all speeches and television appearances. While formerly on public payroll, that's right at one point in time you the taxpayers were paying for Mr. Harpers eyeliner and mascara touch-ups in between attack ads and fund-raising spots, she is now paid for directly by the Conservative Party. Be happy your fund-raising dollars go into keeping that comb over nice and slick!

lol. I had to google young Paulius, though I had read about him awhile ago. K, sorry, the hair comment was grade school. It is holidays, and I'm politicking with a cocktail or two.

All I need to know about Justin=

JT-“If I believed that Canada was the Canada of Stephen Harper. . . I would think of wanting to make Quebec a country.”

And this is all I need to know about Thomas Mulcair. (whom I had actually liked until then, though oppose almost every policy he and his party support)

OTTAWA – The shooter in last week’s deadly attack in Ottawa was a criminal, but not a terrorist — according to NDP Leader Tom Mulcair.

“I don’t think we have enough evidence to use that word,” Mulcair said at the end of an emotional party caucus meeting Wednesday, one week after Michael Zehaf-Bibeau opened fire on a soldier and then on security guards just outside the government and Opposition caucus meeting rooms.

  13. Yea, can you imagine if he had done any of the horrible things that he was definetly going to do, like ban abortion, or ban gay marrigae, or keep women in the home, or put troops on the streets! I guess we got off easy, or perhaps the people who might have actually thought those things were likely didn't and don't have any credibility. Perhaps, i don't know, a marginally conservative pm will always have people that simply hate him for not being a liberal, or being from the 'redneck west' (not really) and maybe that clouds their judgement. Living in Ontario the liberals have done much more to negatively affect my life, mostly financially, than the feds have, and as much money as they have stolen from me, from all of us, i don't think they are evil dictators or darth vader, just dishonest politicians, in other words, normal. But for many on the left that would vote for those liberals that's exactly what they think of the pm. That doesnt seem rational.

As a person living (suffering) in Ontario due to Liberal policies, I couldn't have said this better. I vote Conservative, though I abhor many of their policies. At the end of the day, it is better than the alternatives.

  14. More anecdotal nonsense. I the teachers that I know who use their cell phones in their classrooms are using them as tools to enhance learning. Did you ever think of that, Hal? But I guess you are unfamiliar with 21st Century Learning, aren't you?

You're google/youtube comment is beyond ridiculous. I guess anyone can make up silly stories to make point.

You need a cell phone to learn in the 21st century? An "educator" needs a cell phone to, ahem, educate in the 21st century? And you claim other ppls' comments are ridiculous?

  15. Why can't terminal conservatives just live and die according to their own Sharia-like values and rules and leave the rest of society alone?

Are you serious? That is so offensive I can't believe this post isn't flagged. I'm pretty positive you have no grasp on the reality of what sharia law is. Or Canadian Conservatism for that matter.
