The US government controls a third of the US economy. This percentage has steadily grown since 1865. Therefore, the US is socialist, by Marxist logic, since Marx calls for the State to take control of more and more of the economy, both by taking control of business and by directing the economy with controls on prices, wages, labour and so forth. Again, you don't know what you're talking about. As I've demonstrated, Marxism makes anarchy impossible. I doubt it. You haven't even read Marx, and he's your hero. Your an anarchist but you denounce Marx. Absolutely ridiculous. The end product of a true socialist state will be anarchy. We cannot support dictatorships. Though in Cuba's case it is necessary. Thats a different debate. Anyhow. Dictatorships cannot be praised whatever ideology they hold. I think what annoys me the most is when Americans call for democracy in other countries when their is nothing democratic about their system. You have to be rich, your friends have to be rich. You have to use that wealth to pour your view into American minds. Why do you not attack George W or QEii? Simple question. The point is that Castro, who portrays himself as a hero for the working man, is nothing more than a thief and a thug. The average cuban wommen will live to 80 will the man 76. And you try and say that some doctors are worth less than others? Becasue they are tourist doctors? Rubbish. A doctor is a doctor wether he be German American cuban or spanish or whatever. Receiveing a doctor in any country is equally as difficult. America cut its ties with Cuba after it took the sugar mills and kicked esso and Texaco out. America has its hands in everybodys elses country making profit from that countries natural resources. Read the history of Latin America my friend. America has backed every method to overthrow govermments or plans for Latin Americans to nationalise their own natural resources. If you honestly believe that it is fair for Latin Americans to live in poverty while organisations like the United fruit company drain these countries of their money then I truely belive I am talking to an evil man. Marx didn't go against how humans truely react in the world environment. People only take what they need. The simplest example for your small brain is "your American, you have lots of money. You go to the supermarket. You buy what you need. Little bit more, little bit less. All the same you buy only what you need". This is true human nature shinning through you. Cubans describe their system as "healthcare apartheid." Healthcare for the average Cuban is pretty terrible. Since Castro took power, Cuban life expectancy has gone from the best in Latin America to among the worst. The fact is that the decline into Stalinist dictatorships is an inevitable consequence of socialism. State planning of the economy is basically a vast manifestation of coercive power: you get to tell people where to work, where to live, what to eat, what to drink, where to relax, etc. People drawn to the role of making these decisions are overwhelmingly going to be people with a lust for power, and the lust for power does not accompany traits like compassion and honesty, but ones like ruthlessness, selfishness and greed. Marx basically didn't understand human nature. Socialism basically assumes that human nature can be wished away and that "New Socialist Man" can be created. Oh? Which parts aren't true? And when they do, I guarantee you they never see anyone pass them going to Havana. At least, not unless they're forced to at gunpoint, like Elian Gonzalez. It could also just be that they lack the cojones to get on an inner tube and float to Florida, braving not only the sea but Castro's security forces, who generally shoot anybody they find floating in the water. Perhaps you should go there and try to talk to a few when the secret police aren't watching. It's a culture of fear. Castro just finished a big roundup of intellectuals and critics who were all thrown in jail to serve decades-long sentences. If you want to read a load of rubbish full of holes and omissions pick up a trashy novel at the airport. It's less boring too. The same could be said of Hitler. Yeah, I'd say that murdering thousands of people was a pretty "bad point" too. I totally agree. Cuba has achieved so much. Were would you rather live? In a world were your leader kills for money and oil or a world were the government pays for your education, your arts, your culture and your heath. What more does a man want. People who left Cuba because if they wern't with Fidel then they were against him. The majority were people enjoying priviledges that the common man who worked in the street couldnt enjoy. So Fidel made it fair for every1 and if you want to Huff about it then go to America. There are lots of stupid Americans who don't even know anything about Marxism but still see it as the evil. Miama seems the best place to flee if your selfish. Real socialists don't see Cuba as socialist but there are many aspects thats are socialist. We don't support dictatorships it in the face of "gringo" then a dictatorship is the only thing possible to hold the Island together. I support Cuba and anybody who is slightly open minded would do so. Castro has executed many people but look what he has achieved. George Bush Murders people everyday and the fill his own pockets with gold. Americans need to break free from this patriotic American rubish. Hi Guys. We here in Ireland and the Uk are "kind of" brought up in our lives with the understanding that communism and socialism is a bad thing. Though it is definately not a crime to be a communist\socialist because people here in the UK Ireland have fairly open minds. People who denounce socialism probably couldn't tell you anything about it nor could they tell you that Cuba has the highest standard of Education in the World. There is a Doctor to every 4 citizens on the Island. Before the revolution 80% of Cubans were illiterate. Cuba's Education system has been acknowledged as the best by the World education authorities. It also has the greatest Health system in the world also acknowledged as that. This is due to socialism. America and American big business cannot handle this because people in America work hard but and the end of the day they still have to pay for their education which still isn't great and their Health care which isn't great either (unless you have money). Its simple in America that Big Business rule America. If you live in America and you get cancer and you don't have money then you will die. It's as simple as that It's every mans duty to look after his brother. Americans call Marxists Lenists this evil but if you take the time to get over your predudices you can see that Marx and Lenin never did it for them (as an individual) but they did it for us. They wanted free health care, and free education but once they died we entered the Stalinist eara which we can still see today in North korea, Cuba and China. This isn't proper socialism. Socialism won't have this dictator that we see today. Castro is in the position were America is just bullying it with embargos and economic sanctions against countries who deal with it. The people of the world can see that free education and healthcare is available as long you work hard. America hates this idea so it poisons its own people against the idea. I can't really say whether I would like to live in a socialist world but I do know that Forbes has simply did this in conjunction with the American goverment to erode Fidels great reputation. People flee to Miama because they don't agree with Fidel. But the the vast majority of Cubans love what Castro has given them. The chance to be inteligent human beings and to live long lives. You want freedom of speech so we can have the Bushistes come in and talk capitalism? I have a job and I am comfortable but for my kids sake I hope that we in the rest of the world don't adopt this American way of life. I urge those who dispise Marxism or Lenin to actually read Lenin or Marx and I urge those socialist who believe Fidel to be this great man to think again. Fidel is a genius in comparison with every American president that every lived. He has his many good points but also some bad points. Some very bad points.
