  1. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2014/10/26/cbc_fires_jian_ghomeshi_over_sex_allegations.html The details there cast doubt on the completely consensual nature of his actions, otherwise i would agree it's nobodies business.
  2. I actually agree with you, some people seem to think that there was some other option in particular because it apparently wasn't his fault because he was ill, most people who kill people aren't in their right mind, but they still have to be stopped, and if those people are being pushed in that direction by extremist Islam, that also needs to be stopped, if that's even possible.
  3. Hey, if you want to groove a fastball don't be surprised when someone hits it back up the middle.
  4. Seriously though, what pleasure do you get from badly distorting reality? No politician is elected with the expectation that they will subdue and armed man with their bare hands, he did exactly what he should have done.
  5. Well then pick one of the others who shot him, your post is irrelevant. Someone did what needed doing, and no, they didn't really have time to diagnose his illness at that point.
  6. How do you draw the line between mental health and evil, is there even a line? Does it matter? I would say the results of their acts matter the most. Don't you have to be a little crazy to kill someone for any reason, but if there is a group of people out there taking advantage of disturbed individuals, pushing them into and directing to some degree their acts, even if it is through hateful rhetoric more than direct planning, isn't that still something that needs to be addressed? Is everyone fighting in the middle east because they are mentally ill or because they believe they have good reason, because they have the right ancestry or the right rules with which to live by, at the end of the day they are still killing people for their beliefs, just like this guy in Ottawa did. Crazy or not, it's not something you shrug your shoulders at and say, o well. There is no question they did this in the name of their religion, without that push they might have been like many other Canadians who suffer with mental illness who could use more help, that doesn't mean you ignore this reality. We have enough sick people who commit violent acts without extremists creating more of them.
  7. Well idk, if you repeat that in the media doesn't it become and attack ad? I thought the liberals/NDP wouldn't do that?
  8. Was the liberals troops in the streets ad not as equally slimy? Im not sure what portion of our society is actually so sensitive to attack ads as to find them unbearable, but there does seem to be many people who lament the inability of their leaders to say the right things and the ability of their opposition to exploit that failure. For example, the whipping out the CF18's comment was very dumb, and under no context can you say that and have it not be dumb, and no amount of twisting can make it otherwise. So sure, the conservatives will take things out of context, and they will distort some of the quotes, but considering some of the things Trudeau has said, not much distortion is required. There is never a good context within which to make penis jokes about warplanes while we are planning to send them to war. It's pretty clear to me the the CBC and others involved in this are desperate to protect Trudeau, they have seen how weak he is. The change in law is only a response to this new tack being used by the media to prevent fair use.
  9. I dont think it would have a changed anything.
