jdobbin Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Okay, the header here is provocative but it isn't far from the truth. lol http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...?hub=TopStories Russian gay chat rooms and blogs were particularly intrigued by the photos: Some claimed that Putin, by stripping to his waist, was somehow pleading for more tolerance of homosexuality in Russia -- where gays and lesbians are for the most part forced to remain closeted. One satirical photo circulating on the Internet jokingly compared Putin's mountain adventure with Prince Albert II of Monaco to the movie "Brokeback Mountain," a love story about two cowboys who conceal a homosexual affair. The Russian president, who is married with two daughters, has long cultivated an image of machismo and manliness. Well-known as a downhill skier and black belt in judo, Putin has appeared on national television driving a truck, operating a train, sailing on a submarine and copiloting a fighter jet. I notice that part of the story was carried in Pravda. In the Russian language, Pravda means "truth" and Izvestia means "news." When I was Russia back in the bad days, I can remember people telling me about the difference between Izvestia and Pravda. They said there was no truth in news and no news in truth. One can imagine the stir if our leader took off his shirt in public. I wonder what chat rooms it would fire up. Quote
Higgly Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I love it. Putin and the rainbow coalition. I see a confetti parade up Church Street! LOL. Quote "We have seen the enemy and he is us!". Pogo (Walt Kelly).

LOL, somehow dowdy isn't the word that would come to mind, not even homely like the cowboy hat picture. Damned hilarious, definitely disgusting with all that paunch. But, in reality, if he can't kiss his kids goodbye in public he sure couldn't lose a shirt. Quote
