It may come to that. Right now Islamic terrorists only very rarely can strike at the west. Their only major strike was the WTC (with a medium scale strike at London). But they have ambitions: more WTC type attacks, dirty bombs, biological and chemical attacks. If they succeed with these more than once or twice then a cordon sanitaire is the kind of thing that Western governments and their citizens are going to seriously contemplate. The public in the West might be fat and content and lazy and willing to not care much as long as they're not in peronal danger. Put them in personal danger much and they're going to demand a solution. They won't tolerate the kind of thing which goes on in Baghdad. They simply won't. Anyone who thinks we could never see a round up of Muslims simliar to the roundup of Japanese etc. in WW2 is foolishly naive. Given enough provocation you could see worse.

At the very least we should cease bringing in Muslim immigrants for any reason, and those already here should be bounced, regardless of whether they've atained citizenship, if they're deemed to have the kind of mentality which supports Islamism. Rue, it's all very well to climb on a soapbox and preach that not all Muslims are alike, and it's no doubt true. But in a very real sense, it's irrelevant.

We could exchange the term 'German' for 'Muslim' and your post would closely resemble the hegemonic opinion in Britain right up to around 1936 or 37. In fact, one could make the same distinctions between Nazis, if one returned to the 1920s and looked at the schisms within the Nazi Party itself. Before the war, people could afford to indulge in those niceties, and it was emminently civilized to make those kinds of distinctions, but 4 years later, with rivers of blood running from both sides, it just didn't matter anymore. We can afford to make those distinctions between Muslims now too, and we can afford for the president and Prime Minister to hotfoot it to the nearest mosque to grovel every time a bomb goes off in Britain, but how many attacks will we put up with before we start to take a different view of things?

Islamic terrorists are Islamic. They are Islamic because they are doing what the Koran says they ought to do. The Koran is quite explicit about what Muslims ought to do to the unbeliever and how Muslims should use their lives to bring the world under the domination of Islam. The Koran does not resemble the New testament in any way...Jesus didn't rape women, sack caravans, behead enemies and carry on like Genghis Khan, claiming God told him to do it, but that's precisely what Mohammed did. Moderate Muslims are not believers in the "real, peaceloving" Islam, because there simply isn't one...that's what so many in the west have such a hard time understanding. The Christians (assuming you consider the US to be a Christian country) vigorously prosecuted the Oklahoma City bombers, Nichols and McVeigh, and executed McVeigh. There was never a thought of any "acceptability" among Christians for that atrocity. The "Christians" at Waco, Texas similarly received no succor from mainstream Christians. The Jews have isolated, marginalized and, where appropriate prosecuted their extremists.

What we see with Islam is a lot of waffling on these issues. Not isolation. Not making pariahs of the extremists, but enabling them. Wrong. I do not have to try to understand or sort out Muslims. I did not travel to their nation; they came to mine. It is not incumbent on me to try to adapt to immigrants to Canada. It is incumbent on immigrants, including Muslims, to understand Canadians society, its standards, and values, and try to fit in.

What do you propose we do with radical Muslims in Canada? How are we to tell the radicals and the moderates apart? Muslims in Canada have been very slow to denounce Muslim terrorists and terrorism. Are Muslims in Canada threatened, coerced or otherwise terrorized by their countrymen? If so, why are the moderates not complaining?

I have not expressed hatred for all Muslims. I have not 'smeared' anyone. I rejected your premise that it was up to me to seek out and break bread with moderate Muslims. There is no such requirement.
