This is interesting as I believe it highlights the problems with over crowding and far too lenient immigration system and also gives us an idea of how too many people can put a real strain on any system, particularly a socialist type. Britain is overcrowded and is going to have to rethink how it allocates house, there just isn't enough to go around.

David Davis the home secretary has said that: "The failure to control our borders hasn't just led to more crime and less secure streets. "It's also let down a lot of honest, hard-working immigrants who came to this country with something to contribute."

Call for migrant housing rethink

Minister Margaret Hodge has said UK families should get priority over immigrants for council housing.

She said a "transparent" points system giving weight to length of residence, citizenship and national insurance contributions would be fairer.

Mrs Hodge, who was born in Egypt, said rules should "promote tolerance rather than inviting division".

The Refugee Council said arrivals from new EU states had limited access to benefits, and condemned the comments.

Industry ministry Mrs Hodge, writing in the Observer, said "difficult questions" had to be debated.
