Is this not the equivalent of buying the Brooklyn bridge or some swamp land in Florida. Has anyone on this board bought into this, or anyone you know?

Wow,simple as one,two,tree.

Carbon storage in forests is part of a natural cycle, whereby some carbon is removed from the atmosphere and incorporated into the plant, and at the same time some carbon is released back to the atmosphere from the decomposition of litter and soil organic matter.

During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide (CO2) is absorbed into a leaf through holes (stomata) in the leaf's surface, where it is combined with water (H2O) using energy from light . The products of this chemical reaction are carbohydrates (CH2O), oxygen (O2) and water. The oxygen and water are released from the leaf through the stomata, and the carbohydrates are transported to other parts of the plant where they are used as an energy source and to build structural components of the plant (such as cells).

By purchasing carbon credits from Carbon Planet you are ensuring that the CO2 you produce is removed from the atmosphere and stored within a tree where it can no longer impact on the Greenhouse Effect.

The concept appears to be that by polluting, one can buy carbon credits which balance out the pollution. This is perceived to lower emissions internationally.

Those who do lower their emissions and then sell their technology and carbons will be making money.

I think this is a temporary solution for those businesses who need time to fine tune their emissions. They can buy credits and be within targets.

This is not a long term solution.

So am I to take that as a yes to the question. You have bought personal ones. Or you have done some fine tuning.

Just stating what appears to be the perception by some.

It is simply another method of removing money from this country and sending iot elsewhere.

I do not know anyone foolish enough to do / have done this - other than the Europeans who send their money to that wonderful, friendly and welcoming country called China.

If anyone is truly interested in doing this - they can contact me via pm and I will allow them the privilege of sending me their money instead. I do own several hundred acres of trees and I do need a new car - perhaps I will buy one of those electrical thingy's - send cash please - it is more difficult to trace.

How does that old saying go? Hmmm ....... a fool and his money are soon parted.

An environmental indulgence. . . .

I'm with you, I have not and never would buy into such nonsense or know anyone who has.
