margrace Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 He loves the limelight, made a big splash as he took over the OPP. First we are going back to black and white crusers. Nobody can understand why. Then he announced that there would be no more grandstanding on weekend blitzs on the 400 series of highways. He didn't need to mention any names he was going after Cam Wooley, a very much liked traffic policeman on these highways who has done much to improve them. Fantino cannot stand anyone who is more in the limelight than he. Now we have letters in all our local papers from him. His next attack the Liutenant Governor Mr. Bartleman. Mr. Fantino is horning in on his special appeal to put more books in Native Libraries. This man's ego is fantastic. I asked a friend who once had to work with him how he got that job and she told me to watch how brown his nose is. Quote
guyser Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Hey margrace you are spot on with this post. Fantino is a huge problem. He does not want anyone in the papers except him. He makes that very clear to his officers and should one inadvertently get in the press Fantino is berserk. He was run out of TO because of his shenanigans. (and frankly, any police Chief who does not live in TO-as did Fantino-should not be hired) Wooley will retire or go to politics--watch. He already is assigned a basement office somewhere at Queens Park (not literally) As one who has some insight to Fantino, he is unscrupulous when it comes to throwing fellow officers under the bus. Look at his history, Richmond Hill-lots of probs just as he left. TO-legions of officers on Police Act charges, yet most dont get convicted. Policeman despise this crackpot. The police are generally very supportive of Wooley as he puts such a shine on the Police ,and now Fantino wrecks all the good PR that was achieved. If any officer in this country were in trouble I would help them , Fantino...pfft...I would walk away. Quote
margrace Posted January 28, 2007 Author Report Posted January 28, 2007 Guyser, Wooly does not need The almighty Fantino. Did you see Paula Todds interview with Cam last night. Now I know why my friend, whose son is a fairly high profile officer, would not comment on Fantino. There are a lot of angry people protesting this. I wonder what will happen. I couldn't believe that Fantino would try to steal Bartleman's thunder. This is a sicko. Quote
M.Dancer Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I still don't understand why publicizing highway safty is a bad idea. Cam was well liked and if there is a media study that suggests the campiagn weren't effective, then I suggest they publish it. He's too smart and to politically adept to allow petty nonsense to affect his decisions. That's not to say the decision is correct. Why was he run out of TO? Richmond Hill? He absolutely loathes politicians. Quote

He wasn't run out of TO, the left wing Miller had something to do with that. Fantino was and is a good cop, lefties don't like him because he's a stand up law and order guy. This thread is petty to say the least. Quote

Talk to the cops, they will tell you , if they can. London On is another where King Julian did his magic, ever heard of his homophobia in the "Kiddy porn ring that never was" fiasco?. (basically had gays arrested and rigged up kiddy porn---none was found) Quote
margrace Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 The conservative party has already asked Cam Wooley if he will run on their ticket. Fantino picked the wrong man to centre out with his little speach on prima donna's. Every one in the 400 highway area, respects and honours Mr. Wooley. I live in the boonies but there are even people away up here who have found out what a brown noser Mr. Fantino is. To attempt to take over the glory from Bartleman shows how small this man is. Paula Todd in her opening remarks said " I always know its summer when Cam Wooley reminds me to put on my seat belt" This man was honoured by the previous OPP Camander. Oh pardon me she was a woman. I didn't know there are Police Chiefs for Crime and Disorder. He picked a battle with a well respected person, and he is looking petty and foolish for doing so. Don't blame others for the guys own actions. Quote
guyser Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 I only heard about the ring! This was a fabrication? Can you direct me to this info? Have I only heard half the story? Have at it sir! http://www.eye.net/eye/issue/issue_06.22.00/news/cops.php Yea well, my internet ability is weak, no idea how to hot link it for you.Hmm maybe I do know how... That one also mentions when Fantino held a press conference and said , in front of a stack of guns and knives, that these were obtained in raids at raves. He later admitted he was lying. Good one Mr Police Chief . Quote
guyser Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 This thread is petty to say the least. Do you really think it is petty when the Commisioner of Police for the Province of Ontario controlling thousands of cops is a homophobe and lies to the press on where guns and knives are? It is not petty, it puts every cop on their heels. The regular cop has a hard time being out on the beat, does he really need Joe Public to say that "its good enough for the Chief to lie, I will too?" It undermines respect, and that is what Wooley was getting from the public. They loved him, ergo the love for cops goes up. Believe me they need it. Quote

Fantino has an ugly history that goes all the way back to his London Police Chief days and his well hyped 'kiddie-porn' busts or 'hustler-sex-ring' busts that were pure fakes - designed for maximum media exposure over relatively minor cases that went nowhere in the courts. He's an 'old school' crony-style guy in the worst way - and always ambitious for the media spotlight. Quote
