Ricki Bobbi Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Well, the original $120 million was very, very low ball. That $120 million was the figure quoted was the estimate in 1970. I don't know that much about stadium construction costs but I looked at it a few ways. Texas Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys was built in 1971 at a cost of $35 million US. ($40 Million CAD at the upper range of the exchange rates in 1970 and 1971.) I punched 120 million 1970 dollars into the Bank Of Canada Inflation calculator. (Here's the link.) According to the Bank of Canada $120 million dollars in 1970 would be worth $641 million in 2006. The recently opened University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale Arizona. Cost $455 Million USD ($534 Million CAD using Friday's Bank of Canada rate). So how was that $120 million estimate a lowball figure?
