Why are people getting so up in arms about the 700 mile wall being built on the USA mexico border? And why are Canadians so upset at the proposition of the US doing the same thing here?

I don't get it. Good fences make good neighbours.

The only people that should be upset about a wall are people who break the law - am I wrong?

I don't mind them building a fence. It will look good running through the mountains and the Great Lakes.

I don't think the CANADA border is a priority - but I have heard shows on the CBC radio where the hosts couldn't BELIEVE it. I mean, c'mon. How can you devote hours of your day to pummelling the USA, then cry about a potential fence?

Many Americans think the Canadian border is a priority including Hillary Clinton.

You think this is just an issue for CBC and no one cares in the media elsewhere? If the CBC didn't exists, there would be no problem?

Its justa dumb issue. Why would we have an issue with a country trying to protect itself?

I have no issue with it. Just don't blame us for the terrorists of September 11 coming into the U.S.

Sounds like an exercise in futility, ultimately the Great Wall of China and the Iron Curtain didn't work either. I only use official crossings so I have no problem as long as I don't have to pay for it. I wonder how far this bunker mentality will go.

It's the US's business. What they do, they do. It's a ridiculously stupid idea (I can climb a fence)... but perhaps it'll be a tourist attraction one day like the Great Wall.

I mean, it didn't work for the Chinese (or was it the Mongrels?).

It was like the Maginot line, the Mongols went around it.

Haha, I must have had a drink before I wrote that, Mongrels... oh my. Anyways.... my apologies to anyone of that descent.

The Maginot line is more in my historical knowledge area. The American idea of putting up a fence along a mostly wilderness border is absolutely absurd in comparison, the Maginot line was at least an invention of historical success. If I'm 1500km from anywhere, I'm highly doubtful any fence is going to stop me if I want in or out.

I'm not debating your point about good fences making good neighbors, but there is no 700 mile fence being built as you said. The GOP, in order to appeal to certain voters, voted for a 700 mile fence between the US and Mexico, but they didn't commit the funds to build it. The fence "exists" in the law books, but the reality is, no money = no fence. It does not exist in the material world. The fence was all an election year ruse to convince western voters that the GOP was doing something to stop the flow of illegals from Mexico. There are fences along some parts of the border, but this 700 mile expansion doesn't exist.
