mikedavid00 Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 The trick is to set the tax rate low enough to make evasion not worth the trouble. Bingo. Quote ---- Charles Anthony banned me for 30 days on April 28 for 'obnoxious libel' when I suggested Jack Layton took part in illegal activities in a message parlor. Claiming a politician took part in illegal activity is not rightful cause for banning and is what is discussed here almost daily in one capacity or another. This was really a brownshirt style censorship from a moderator on mapleleafweb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1oGB-BKdZg---
geoffrey Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 The trick is to set the tax rate low enough to make evasion not worth the trouble. Bingo. Any tax will be evaded to some degree. Lower taxes are evaded less often, but if a tax is there, there will be someone that tries to not pay it. There is a cost-benefit concept to taxation. If raising taxes reduces revenue (apart from a Laffer argument) due to evasion, then obviously it's not worth while. Likewise, reducing taxes to reduce evasion is great, but what's the point if you end up with less revenue? Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

My suggestion is a mixed bag of type of taxes, so that evasion for any one tax isn't worth the hassle. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone."
