Saladin Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 People were giving minds to look at things at a critical way and think for themselves, not to listen to what their mommies and daddies tell them is right. This applies to me ofcourse and thats why I disagree with my parents on many of the religious issues that people came up with in their era which had its own circumstances which don't necessarily apply in our current world. Though, to remove any possible misunderstanding, those issues are mostly minor. On this board, I read 2 histories concerning the israeli/palestinian conflict, and there is only one can possibly be true. Arguements like "The land was ours 3000 years ago and we ruled it for 20 years" will not convince the palestinians. However, I can simply say that: 1- Those who were actually there 3000 were mostly killed (not by us, go blame the Italians, specially those who live in Rome). 2- Most of the jews who live in Palestine now have European, American, and African origins. 3- The Canaanites were there before the jews (some arab roots, specially those around Syria and Palestine, are Canaanite). Anyways, I will not use the fact that the Canaanites were there 4000 years ago to validate my right to live on the land. Palestine was owned by arabs until 50 years ago, Jews started flowing into Palestine in the beginning of the 20th century encouraged by the english who were occupying the land then. In 1947, the partition of Palestine (I hope you can see the irony of the resolution's name) was issued by the UN, a resolution that breached the UN's own rules, but who cares right? Israel has refused to obide by most of the UN resolutions since then. In 1948, the war started, hundreds of thousands fled to neightbouring countries. What your mommies and daddies told you is that the jews bought the lands legally. Well, luckily I was born when my grandfathers farm was "sold" to the israeli government. The deal went like this .. "We're taking the land, do you want those $10000?". So much for a legal contract . Oh and the Israelis sure did not kick the palestinians out, and thats why I can't visit the place I was born at. Whistler Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Welcome Saladin, I believe the Palestinian plight serves a greater purpose for Arab Countries and have a question for you. Can a Palestinian purchase and own land in Syria? Quote
KrustyKidd Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Also welcome to the forum Saladin! Good to have you with us. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but history really means squat these days. I highly doubt that four million Israelis are going to up and move somewhere even if Perry Mason, Johnny Cochran and F Lee Baily showed up with an eviction notice signed by Sharone himself. Simply put, they are there now and they ain't going anywhere man. A harsh reality and one that our aborigionals have had to deal with for over a hundred years. Now as for going home and getting fair re embursement for Grand Pappy's farm, that is another question. If Israel did not feel threatened and felt that it was in her interest to offer money in return for peace then it just might happen. Get a few bucks and get to go home and maybe even buy a piece of land where you came from. Now the problem. As long as Palestinians keep killing kids and people on buses in Israel they won't trust any of you to go into the country much less talk about things which I have just spoken to you about. Even if Moses himself appeared with flaming stone tablets saying it was your land it wouldn't mean a damm thing to a guy who has spent his entire life saving for the house he just built in Eillatt. So, scince they are not going anywhere and refuse to let you wipe them off the face of the earth you may as well call on your brothers to stop the suicide bombing so you can start negotiations. Reality sucks dude. Hope you get back home soon. Oh, one more thing, that rat Yasser, he's half your problem, should get rid of him. Quote We're Paratroopers Lieutenant. cknykid Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 If few cunning, greedy and filthy rats took over the place you store your wheat in a farmhouse. You can always close the door of the farmhouse and gas them. Same solution can be applied to people who took over your house. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated. Protect your property. Quote
FastNed Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Palestinians who are outside of Israel are "out" for one reason: their ancestors listened to the Grand Mufti and fled so the invading Arab armies could kill all the jews. After the War, Israel refused to let them come back - sorry but those are the facts. For political reason, Arab Rulers forced the Palestinians into refugee camps, refused to allow them to resettle in other Arab Lands and did so for only one reason. They choose to use these Palestinians as political pawns in a continuation of their war against the jews - one that continues fifty years later. Bluntly, Saladin, your people were screwed by their own but that is history now. So long as Palestinians continue to pursue terrorist acts against the Israeli people, you will never go home. I regret that, myself, because everyone should have a home. In reality, I think its time for Palestinians to move onward because killing Israelis is not going to gain them a home - it ain't gonna happen. This world and North America is full of people who used to live elsewhere but who have made the best of bad circumstances and moved on to a new life. In a better world, perhaps your grandchildren will buy a retirement home in a peaceful Israel after great financial success in the West. I believe that to be a more realistic dream than hopes of a future life in the radioactive rubble that will be Israel should the more reactionary elements of the Arab World have their way. We North Americans know all about coming to a new land to find a better life - why is that not a more reasonable dream for the Palestinian People? And Saladin, welcome to the Forum! Quote
