sunsettommy Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Does this mean that during the global cooling period (1940-1976) someone who "denies" global cooling was a criminal? The blathering about the supposed "global cooling" is just another tired old lie from those who cannot handle the reality (or are being paid to cloud it). And before you go dredge up the 1 or 2 articles that appeared on it in the 70's, don't bother. Yes, a couple of articles appeared, but in the scientific community there was never any serious acceptance or promotion of the idea. The comparison is dishonest, as is pretty much everything the deniers and liars put out is. Gosh what an angry response. Did I say anything about scientists blathering about global cooling? How about this amazing idea that you just honestly answer the question? Your whining about some articles from the 1970's is your thinking.I never brought it up. Does this mean that during the global cooling period (1940-1976) someone who "denies" global cooling was a criminal? That many deaths were attributed to Global Cooling? How about dropping the dodge game and just answer the question? By the way there was a cooling trend. Quote Visit GLOBAL WARMING SKEPTICS
sunsettommy Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Actually many deaths have already been attributed to Global Warming.Inhofe is behaving in a manner that is consistent with criminal endangerment of others and I would fully support charges against him. If I tell you a bridge is safe to cross when I know it is not, should I not be charged when you are killed? Yikes, thats a bit Orwellian for my tastes. How many politicians would be jailed for having views contrary to popular opinion. Let's be honest about the situation, alright? He's not just got "views contrary to popular opininion". He's spreading disinformation that is contrary to science, and through his obfuscation he endangers the planet. In your opinion. Quote Visit GLOBAL WARMING SKEPTICS

Need I point out to you that in the '70's, the majority of the world's scientists were convinced we were headed for the next ice age? Not that many did.Sure they were talking about it but not in apocalyptic words. It was more a media drive for fearing a cooling trend.Than the scientists crying over it. They were much more levelheaded then.Today so many are being political and buying into the irrational scaremongering. The absurd predictions that have already been way off base and that it is not valid science to make predictions 50-100 years ahead. How can you test it? They are similar to Ehrlich.Too little rationality and a lot of hysteria. Quote Visit GLOBAL WARMING SKEPTICS
gerryhatrick Posted November 23, 2006 Author Report Posted November 23, 2006 James Inhofe is an even more dangerous idiot than I thoughtby Michael Stickings Sen. James Inhofe — thankfully the outgoing chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee — on FOX & Friends the other day: Now look, God’s still up there. We still have these natural changes, and this is what’s going on right now. New science comes out… If the northern hemisphere is warming up, it’s not due to manmade gases. And that’s what these people all come to the conclusion. And yet the other side, the far left, the George Soros, the Hollywood elitists, the far left environmentalists on the committee that I chair — all of them want us to believe the science is settled and it’s not. By the way, there’s all kinds of new things. Gretchen, you’ll enjoy this. Get your violin out and get ready. They came out with a great discovery just a few weeks ago. And this came from the geophysical research letters and you know what they said? Hold on now! They said the warming is due to the sun. Isn’t that remarkable? Come on, FOX, tell us. It’s remarkable, right? It’s true, right? GRETCHEN: Wow. BRIAN: That’s a Fox News alert. GRETCHEN: That is a Fox News alert. That’s how it went. I kid you not. Think Progress has the video and the transcript along with a reminder that pretty much every serious climatological scientist thinks that human activity has been a major cause of global warming. Inhofe thinks it’s all a hoax. But the joke — and the tragedy — will be on all of us. http://www.themoderatevoice.com/posts/1164125941.shtml Unbelievable. Canadian Blue Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Well I can tell how unbiased the article is from the title so it must be credible! This is a democracy, and in a democracy you are allowed to say whatever you feel like on a topic like Global Warming. If you aren't given this basic right then you will end up living in a world similar to 1984. Quote "Keep your government hands off my medicare!" - GOP activist

The distortions are the usual and what is more. They largely ignore his climate reports as shown on his website. The planet is actually realeasing most of the CO2 each year.Mankind releases a small amount yearly in comparison. The Media and environmentalists lies goes on. Then too since Atmospheric CO2 increases has a largely logarithmic effect. Its effectiveness declines as more of it is added in the atmosphere. Has anyone noticed that a lot of horrors of global warming failed to show up this year? Hurricane numbers in the Atlantic among the lowest of the last 50 years? That the warming trend has leveled off since 1998.No accelerating trend indicated on ANY chart! That is EIGHT years! No accelerating trend at all. No accelerating increases of Atmospheric CO2 either.Just the usual 1.5 ppm per year. Methane has levelled off to a flat level. No increase or decrease. That Earth is in a ( 600 or 1000 year ) high solar cycle. The Sun has been well above average in output. That means there are more IR wavelengths for CO2 to absorb among other things. The very next solar cycle is now being predicted to be the weakest on record. This favors COOLING. That the Vostock Ice cores show a clear lag of CO2 increases AFTER the temperatures increased by hundreds of years. There is at present time a Global warming. However it is not catastrophic and certaintly not something serious to spend humongous amounts of money chasing a phantom. The Kyoto Treaty is stupid. Not worth the expeditures for such paltry returns. Quote Visit GLOBAL WARMING SKEPTICS

Yeah, but you can't tell the difference between yourself and the influence you wield, and that of an American Senate committee chairman. Think on it awile. What you say does not shape the opinions of others. You aren't endangering anyone with your "nothing to worry about here folks" ignorance/deceit (whichever it is), whereas Inhofe is. He's delayed action through his actions. That's a crime. Quote Conservative Party of Canada taking image advice from US Republican pollster: http://allpoliticsnow.com

No it isn't, every person has the right to disagree with science. If I disagree with a certain theory then should I be put in jail because its widely accepted by the general populace. I think Infohole actually believes in what he says, and any action's against him would create a riot in the United States. Their are people who believe that 9/11 was orchestrated by the US Government, should they be put in jail because they go against common sense. Same with those who support communism despite what those regimes have done in the world, should they all be jailed. No offense GH, but you seem to be proposing McCarthyism. I think we need to act more strongly on Global Warming, and would even consider supporting the Liberal's if Kennedy was leader. However if we ever started jailing people for dissent then I would fight that tooth and nail. Tyranny is tyranny, no matter what the cause or the reason.
