jbg Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 More on the religion of pieces. It seems that the Lebanese and Pakistanis, outside their countries, had exciting days in Perth, Australia and Seattle, Washington: In Perth, Australia, PM Howard, for having the temerity (link) to support Israel, had his car attacked by a Lebanese mob. See excerpts below (apparently, they miss the irony in the sentence underlined and bolded below: Protesters kicked, punched and fired projectiles at John Howard's car today after the prime minister, who has been supportive of Israel, emerged from a Liberal Party conference in Perth.About 200 protesters had gathered outside the venue, many waving Lebanese and Palestinian flags. A number of the protesters clashed violently with police as Mr Howard left a Perth hotel after delivering a keynote address to the WA Liberals' state conference. *snip* Mr Howard had used his conference speech to attack Hizbollah, which is fighting Israel in southern Lebanon. "It's not some kind of inspirational liberation organisation, it's a terrorist organisation," he said. As the prime minister departed, the protesters surged towards his car, demanding an end to the war which has killed hundreds of civilians. "We want peace," they chanted as they mobbed Mr Howard's vehicle. ============================================================== Things turned deadly in Seattle, when a Pakistani decided he'd had enough of the Jews (link) . Excerpts below: Seattle Suspect Allegedly Ambushed Girl By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: July 30, 2006 Filed at 6:22 a.m. ET SEATTLE (AP) -- The man suspected in a fatal shooting rampage hid behind a potted plant in a Jewish charity's foyer and forced his way through a security door by holding a gun to a 13-year-old girl's head, the police chief said Saturday. Once inside, police say, Naveed Afzal Haq opened fire with two semiautomatic pistols. One woman, Pam Waechter, 58, of Seattle was killed at the scene. Five more women were wounded. Haq, 30, was ordered held on $50 million bail Saturday pending formal charges of murder and attempted murder. Haq, a Muslim, told authorities he was angered by the war in Iraq and U.S. military cooperation with Israel. ''He pointedly blamed the Jewish people for all of these problems,'' Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske said at a news conference Saturday. According to a statement of probable cause, Haq told a 911 dispatcher: ''These are Jews and I'm tired of getting pushed around and our people getting pushed around by the situation in the Middle East.'' *snip* Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
