Craig Read
After Gulf War I France insisted that Iraq had legitimate territorial claims in the Gulf area. France proceeded to trade illegally with Hussein and reap billions of dollars in contracts. France opposed Gulf War II on the grounds that Hussein did not pose an immediate threat to Western interests. Now France wants to block another UN resolution on UN aid to Iraq in the form of $, men and police work. Magically there is now a French insistence on Iraqi self-rule. This is really very touching given their opposition to toppling Hussein's dictatorship which was murdering hundred's of thousands of people. The French also know that no one wants to turn authority over to Iraqis more than the U.S. does, as soon as they are ready. The Iraqi's will not be ready for some time, everyone knows this. The ploy is so transparently cynical that it suggests the French goal is to find some excuse, any excuse, to draw out negotiations as long as possible, or to gain as many commercial concessions as possible for French companies. This makes a laughingstock of the UN and internationalism. A second rate power, playing games, while first people died; and now while a country's future is at stake. Craig Read
Chirac who told the East Europeans not to get involved in Iraq and support the US or they will be taught a lesson; received money from Hussein for his elections; sold Iraq a nuclear generator and fighters; and has engaged in fleecing EU consumers to pay for large French farming interests which [gasp] support his party and political campaigns is the worst sort of arrogant mealy mouthed socialist one can find. Especially nauseating are his calls on morality; human rights; peace and global community. I have no idea how or why anyone takes this leader or this country seriously. I am truly glad that the Swedes rejected the Euro. The Brits better do the same. The EU fantasma - a German-Franco- socialist ninny state - steeped in the mythology of European greatness and grandeur and pathetically anti-american, is an illiberal regime that the Swedes and Brits are best left out of. Nuclear
So does "Not differentiating those who support terror and those who commit terror" include those who support the supporters? I know a lot of Americans who'd LOVE to go pay a visit to France while armed to the teeth....
Craig Read
Who can blame them ? The French do little to help, paralyzed by their 8 million Muslims who apparently hold the French political system in thrall. Hard to understand the advanced feminity of a man like Chirac or even Schroeder. The Twin Towers of European Cowardice. Playing the demagogues, extolling the virtues of European greatness, welfare, regulations, closed markets, and lest we not forget killing poor 3rd world people via CAP and other tariffs and subsidies. Yes a wonderful moral place is Europe.....except for Communism, Fascism, the Holocaust, Hitler, Napoleon, a few World Wars here and there....... Luigi71585
"After what they say was an exhaustive investigation, the Defense Minister of France said today that Osama bin Laden is either still in hiding in Afghanistan, he may have escaped to Pakistan, or he may be dead. Hey, France, thanks a lot. We'll take it from here. Hard to believe they were invaded twice." - Jay Leno Check out the quotes and jokes You'll get a laugh im sure
