westcoast99 Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 A new poll by EKOS on voter intentions in Ontario shows Mr. Eves' PCs have surged in popularity since August. 42% of decided voters declared they intended to vote PC, up from 35% in August while McGuinty's Liberals dropped from 49% to 43.5%. Howard Hampton's NDP fell from 15% to 13%. Source: The Star Quote
Neal.F. Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 may this trend continue..... Even with these numbers, it is permitted to cheer, since the Lieberals votes are concentrated heavily in Metro Toronto, and some urban areas like Windsor, Hamilton and parts of Ottawa, while the Tories are strongest in 905, and most of the rural areas in the east, and southwest. I think it is just sinking in to many people that Dalton just doesn't have what it takes to be Premier. And the NDP should be very worried. They might even have the long overdue burial they have been waiting for since 1995. Even if they hold a couple of seats, there will be no way to justify giving them party status. Even more worrisome to the Federral NDP, is that the way things work in that party, is that the federal and provincial wings fundraise together, and the provincial wing will deplete the Feds warchest just in time for a spring election. 6 Provinces with provincial NDPs went to the polls this year, so they will be facing the same sitiation almost nationwide, except perhaps in Manitoba, where the provincial winnerwill have no trouble raising new funds. But in NB, NF, NS, PEI, and SK (where the Sask prty will likely win) they will be facing an uphill battle. Quote
Craig Read Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 Many Conservatives won't vote for Uncle Ernie and the Knitting Crew. Too many whiny cry baby compassionate Lie-bullroar wannabees in his inner therapy group. I will vote for Hampton and the NDP for 2 reasons; 1. Mickey Mouse is not on the ballot and Howie Hohumpton is the closest we have and 2. He actually said something intelligent about wanting to decrease MP salaries and pensions - a measure I would fully endorse, since millions are paid out to these jokers over their life time. Go Howie Go !! Quote
Lost in Manitoba Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Sorry. Was that sarcasm that went over my head or did you just say you were going to vote NDP? Quote
Craig Read Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 No i will vote for the NDP. Eves is an utter clown. McGuinty should be hosting the howdy doody show. Neither has put forward a coherent program other than vague promises to spend more money. No reforms, nothing on taxation, nothing on spending cuts, nothing on security, nothing on the relationship with Ottawa, nothing on why Toronto should fund the rest of the Province, nothing on transportation [except to build more highways funded of course by Joe taxpayer], nothing on how the Waterfront will be funded [except that $13 billion will come from Joe taxpayer with no ROI in sight], nothing on improving the immigration system [except some vague idea from Eves that Ont. will control it somehow], and nothing on rejecting Kyoto which will cost Ontario 300.000 jobs. Howie said something about the pay of MPs being too high and he would reduce the pay and pension packages. Given the largesse we pay out for such a group of detritus I am fully in favor of that one cogent idea of the campaign that I have heard thus far. Quote
