theloniusfleabag Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Dear shoop, So in a case of the utterly expected, Presto has decided to not running for Klein's job. Can't say I blame him. Running for office is a tough game. Manning is an old dude. He knows the hours that it would take to win this race. Decided his heart wasn't in it. Good for him. Indeed, if one hasn't the cojones to see something through, best step aside. Besides, the last thing Canada needs on the international stage is another leader with a speech impediment. This may seem harsh, but appearances sometimes sell, and I thought (a while ago) that had John Manley succeded Chretien (a man with a cast eye replacing a man with a facial musculature disease) and then by Manning (whom many see as showing signs of mild retardation), the rest of the world might think Canada is a 'hillbilly nation' of 30 million, with only 3 surnames. Rue Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 All this talk about what to do with Alberta's surplus? That's easy. Send it my way so I can buy out the jokers in Toronto and fund a proper hockey team. While I am at it I would by the Habs my team as well. Seriously why not invest the money or at least some of it in alternative fuels such as solar energy, organic fuels, wind and so on? Quote

Seriously why not invest the money or at least some of it in alternative fuels such as solar energy, organic fuels, wind and so on? Alberta is a world leader on investment in clean coal technology and has a mass transit system (in Calgary) enitrely powered by wind energy. Alberta is truly already a world power in alternative energy! I wouldn't mind seeing more spending in this regard, that being said.
