I have to admit that I soured on Paul Martin before then. But the moment when I really took an active dislike for the man, the moment my dismissal of him turned to open contempt, occured when he went to a fund raising dinner for the Tamil Tiger terrorist organization despite being warned off by CSIS, Foreign Affairs, and the CIA. When he was questioned on it in the House by the then Alliance, he got up, all swagger and pompous arrogance, and self-righteously declared that unlike the bigots in the Alliance he didn't judge people as being un-Canadian simply due to their ethnic origin - etc. etc. The sight of him, with a huge shit-eating grin plastered on his face, laughing and joking with Jean Chretien there as the opposition shouted at him told me all I ever wanted to know about a man without any moral compass whatever. It told me Paul Martin would deal with anyone; terrorists, seperatists, criminals, anyone at all that he thought would benefit him. I have despised him from that day.

The Liberal government under Chretien and Martin staunchly defended the Tamil Tigers, for they had organized Sri Lankan community support through Liberal paid "cultural" groups whose job it was to funnel government money into community mouthpieces and organize them into supporting the Liberals both financially and with their votes at election time. No matter what, they refused to criticise or condemn the Tamil Tigers, or take any stand against fund raising and organizing on their behalf, calling critics "racists" in order to defend their despicable actions. Their protection of one of the world's most vile terrorist groups was a minor part of their behaviour, but it was a perfect example, far moreso than the sponsorship scandal, of what made the Liberals so utterly vile and ammoral. CSIS has repeatedly asked for this designation, but the most crass of politicallly opportunistic reasons the Liberal Party of Canada refused.

So I'm quite happy to learn that martin has gone into the anonymity he so richly deserves, the new Conservative government has added the Tamil Tigers to its list of terrorist organizatons and made it a crime to raise money for them or donate money to them in Canada.

What a joke.

Will there be a weekly terrorist organization anouncment from now on?

Harper is about 2 months away from showing up somewhere with a military jacket on. Gotta "support those troops" ya know. Cause Canadians sure aren't.

Really. Exactly what am I ignorant of here? Calling someone "ignorant" isn't an insult IMO, as long as you specify what they're ignorant about. I think I know why you left that part out. ;)

Do you have any purpose for being here other than to attack Stephen Harper? The Conservative Party of Canada? Supporters of either?

Well, besides that the Tigers is a rebel group known for a multitude of crimes and murders against innocent civilians...

Just happens that the ones that immigrate to Canada tend to be Liberal supports... as we've seen by Martin going to their fund raising dinners.

About time that Canada stood with the rest of the world against such blatant disregards for human rights.

Good point. I don't know how naming a group that is as shady as the Tamil Tigers would lead to a "terrorist announcement a week".

Thanks for the solid contribution Gerry!

That kind of smug, smirking, couldn't-care-less attitude is why the Liberals are out of power.

And why they will stay out of power till the end of the decade, at least!

Seems to me like Gerry is clearly breaking the trolling guidelines for the forum. Gerry please respect Greg and his rules ... especially this one.

Do not post inflammatory remarks just to annoy people.

Or was there another reason for your first post on this thread?
