Guest Warwick Green Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 Statement by the Chief CommissionerThe Chief Commissioner today issued the following statement: After thirty-six years in the Public Service of Canada, including serving as Chief Commissioner of the Canadian Human Rights Commission since August, 2002, I have decided to take my retirement effective May 30th. It has been a great privilege to serve in many different government departments and agencies and to work on many issues that have touched the lives of Canadians. I would especially like to thank my fellow Commissioners, the management and the staff of the Commission for their continuing dedication to the cause of human rights in Canada. In particular, I am pleased that through the hard work and professionalism of all of its employees, the Commission’s programs have been modernized. The Commission’s increased emphasis on more streamlined case management, mediation, discrimination prevention activities, research, strategic litigation and modern management practices has created a solid foundation upon which the Commission can continue its important work on behalf of Canadians. Mary Gusella Chief Commissioner March 8, 2006 http://www.chrc-ccdp.ca/media_room/message...laration-en.asp Early test for Harper. The CHRC has a long activist history. Is he going to continue that or is he going to name a replacement who will rein in the dogs? And... the much vaunted "transparency" promise. Is the public going to get some input or will the replacement be simply announced one Friday afternoon? Quote
geoffrey Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Hire me for it. I'd be a great Human rights commissioner. Most of my judgements would consist of "grow up" and "why do you deserve special treatment, go to work." Though I do admit there is some abuses that are problems in the workplace, generally its people that just have social issues themselves. Or peopel that think the world should bend for their special situations. High ineffecient way to run a society no? Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
