Riverwind Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Unfortunately there is evil in this world. The hard left just can't recognize it. Indeed, they are often sympathetic to it. We've all seen the left protesting and comparing Bush to Hitler, but we haven't seen them protesting against Saddam or Osama Bin Laden. There you go again - trying dismiss people with different ideas about how to deal with the injustices in the world by calling them 'evil'. No reasonable person believes that Bin Ladin is a nice guy or that life in Saddam's Iraq was good. However, many reasonable people believe that the Iraq war was a really dumb idea and the 'Saddam is Evil' is not a good enough justification.Unfortunately just because these humans 'might' spend their lives going in and out of jail, 'might' have SEVERE addictions of their own, and 'might' cost society a lot of moneySo you have no problems paying more taxes to take care of these problem children? In fact, if you feel so strongly about why do you volunteer to adopt some? I can give you the numbers to social services in your province - they have lots of these brain damaged kids that really need a responsible adult to take of them. I am sure you will be creative making excuses why you can't do such a thing but the excuses will basically prove that are not willing to put your money where your mouth is.100,000 babies are murdered every year (average 274 every day) in Canada and about 97% of these murders are for no reason other than they are an inconvenience--not because of the mother's health being in danger, incest or rape.A fetus is not a baby as far as most people are concerned so stop trying to shove your religion down other people's throats (BTW: a relgious belief is any belief that is a matter of faith and cannot be proven - your opinions on abortion are religious opinions even if you don't go to a church). lost&outofcontrol Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 So what's the criteria for mandatory abortions in your opinion then ? Where do we stop ? The woman is alcoholic so no baby for her, she has no job, the father is a dead beat, they're immigrants, the family has a history of mental or physical conditions ? Disclaimer : I'm pro choice Quote

Forced sterilization - tough call, generally speaking I wouldn't support it, but I think there could be exceptions. e.g. a woman who abused her child, has it taken away then has another one to abuse. (it has happened). I generally support the right to assisted suicide, but its a slipper slope when the right to die becomes a duty to die. Riverwind Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 So what's the criteria for mandatory abortions in your opinion then ? Where do we stop ? The woman is alcoholic so no baby for her, she has no job, the father is a dead beat, they're immigrants, the family has a history of mental or physical conditions ?It would be reasonable to consider mandatory abortion for a woman who has already given birth to children which are in the care of social services because of her addictions. That said, I dislike the idea of mandatory abortion and would prefer a system of secure rehab centers. Pregnant woman would be given a choice: volunteer to stay in the rehab center until the child is born or have an abortion. That approach would balance the rights of a woman to control her body and the rights of society to protect itself from the irresponsible choices made by individuals. The ideal solution would be some sort of contraception or temporary serilization. However, I am not sure if that is medically possible - which is why I think mandatory abortion is the only pratical solution. It is also a lot tougher to decide when someone should be forced to have mandatory contraception. Quote To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.
