scribblet Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Finally, these protestes are being recognized as incitement to hate and violence. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml...8/ixportal.html Muslim protesters face arrest by John Steele (Filed: 08/03/2006) Arrests of Muslim protesters who demonstrated about cartoons of the prophet Mohammed in London last month are imminent, Scotland Yard said last night. The Feb 3 protests outside the Danish Embassy caused widespread offence. Some protesters chanted and carried placards glorifying the July 7 London bombings and threatening beheadings. Muslim protesters Muslims protest outside the Danish Embassy No arrests of Muslim protesters were made at the time, a decision by police that was widely criticised. Yesterday the Metropolitan Police disclosed that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had advised it that potential public order offences were committed. Arrests, questioning and charges are now expected in the coming weeks in a number of cases said to run to "more than single figures". A spokesman for Scotland Yard said last night: "During the demonstration on Feb 3 2006 the Met deployed specialist evidence gathers. This material has been collated and examined by the investigation team. "A file of evidence was submitted to the CPS for their consideration and we have been advised that there are sufficient grounds to arrest individuals for offences under the Public Order Act." Incitement to racial hatred is said to be a potential charge. Sources said the evidence involved a "number of identified and unidentified individuals". Operation Laverda has focused on six complaints from witnesses but the Met also received 570 complaints from people offended by images of the protests. David Davis, the shadow home secretary, said in a letter he sent to Charles Clarke, the Home Secretary, yesterday: "There is a clear public interest in ensuring that those who incite murder are appropriately dealt with and an equal public interest that there is no unnecessary delay. "Furthermore, not to take action is to let down the moderate Muslim majority." Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province
Montgomery Burns Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 It's about time. They were protesting with vile signs calling for beheadings, murders, and another 9-11. Yet the only ones arrested were 2 counter-protestors with pics of the Mohammed cartoons. I have a bad feeling about Europe. I sense it is going to explode in the next year. Spain was bombed, London was bombed, weeks of violence and rioting in France, Dutch filmmakers getting slaughtered on the street, Dutch politicians under 24 hr guard and living in safe houses, rampant Muslim rape cases, rampant protests over stupid Mohammed caricatures/cartoons, etc. Quote "Anybody who doesn't appreciate what America has done, and President Bush, let them go to hell!" -- Iraqi Betty Dawisha, after dropping her vote in the ballot box, wields The Cluebat™ to the anti-liberty crowd on Dec 13, 2005. geoffrey Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Anyone that has signs, or anyone that chants pro-Osama terrorist supporting songs, should be arrested. It's clearly an incitement of violence and it's not to be tolerated in our society. Lock them up for a few years, teach them not to run their mouths asking for violence against countries that accepted them with open arms. Smug idiots, they all need to get lost. The pro-Osama Khadrs should be deported ASAP. All of them. That's just one example of these idiots that come here and wish us death. I view all those sign holders equally. Don't be ridiculous. (And I'm kidding about Osama, btw) These protesters who will be arrested are no different than any other protester who should and WOULD be arrested for illegal acts in the street. If you think Osama is a great guy, you should be ok to believe that. If you advocate acts of terrorism as a reasonable action, then you need to go to jail. Thats where I draw the line. Mention of violence has no place in our society. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
Montgomery Burns Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Update: 5 arrested in London cartoon protest: Five men were arrested today over their alleged role in protests outside the Danish Embassy in London last month against cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad. Four of the five were held on suspicion of incitement to murder and all five are suspected of “using threatening words or written material to stir up racial hatred”. During the demonstrations in Central London on February 3 and 4, protesters held placards threatening a repeat of the September 11 or July 7 terror attacks. Among the slogans were “Massacre those who insult Islam” and “Europe you will pay, your 9/11 will come”. But as you see in this chilling video, there was a helluva lot more than 5 people calling for murder and jihad at this hatefest. So this is the 'religion of peace' - gee must be Islam impersonators out there. I wonder how many Canadians (and Americans) are actually aware of what goes on in Europe, I'm guessing they don't have a clue. You know, you're going to get idiots saying stupid things at events like this, there was one guy on camera yelling like an idiot saying assinine things... Did you notice that others were looking at him like he was a cracker jack? The others, while clearly upset and perhaps justifiably so, I am sure would much rather have a cuppa and catch that evenings game of footie as opposed to wreaking jihad... I'm sure I could go to any number of right wing events and see the same sort of jackasses. Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
