Do you seriously believe that Cuba and North Korea are communist states ? Umm... North Korea is tough. It's communist in the fact it has a centrally planned economy. People aren't really equal and labour isn't the value of goods and stuff like that, so it does lack some important communist principles. The dictatorship is right on par though, and there definitely isn't any bourgeois capitalists hanging around. It also is too nationalistic for communists, who should believe more in an international system of their practice. Cuba, on the other hand, I would say is as close to communism as you'll get in the modern world. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

They are both ran by dictators as state-capitalist countries, a communist state would allow multi-party elections and a open judicial system without the death penalty. Of course if you base your opinion on countries like the soviet union, N Korea etc.. communism will leave a bad taste in your mouth but people have to understand that there hasn't been a communist state up to now. They are plain old dictatorships thinly veiled behind the communist banner. Quote

They are plain old dictatorships thinly veiled behind the communist banner. Dictatorship of the proletariate... right there in your beloved manifesto. Doesn't sound too free. Would I be allowed to run a capitalist party in a communist state? Not a chance. Would your democracy allow me to do my own thing economically? Aboslutely not. Communism relies on dictatorship. Or in the reliance that every single person is ok with communism. I personally woudln't be willing to be dictated to by this proletariate, and I would oppose such a violation of my freedoms (economic) very aggressively. I would probably run against the communists with a considerable portion of support. Can you inflict the removal of class on people democractically? Can you take my money and my property democratically? What if I've given more than others, why should they get the same in the end? So in order to have your system working, all people would have to be communists in that state. Not bloody likely to ever happen. You also have too much faith in your average joe. They can't be trusted to just do good for society. They need direction from a profit motive. They see more money, they work harder. They aren't going to work harder for Snowball, they work harder to get more in life... materlistic or early retirement or whatever. Most people are blind to the bigger picture and need a little kick in the ass along the way. People aren't equal, get over it. At least we know who the Communists here are now. Don't worry, I'm not going to call McCarthy. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
