tml12 Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 You also must fault Martin for allowing corrupt MPs to run again. What corrupt MPs ran again? That was from stefrocks original post...she said we shouldn't fault the Martin Liberals because all corrupt Liberal MPs lost re-election. Of course, I wouldn't fault Martin if they lost prior to 2004. Quote "Those who stand for nothing fall for anything." -Alexander Hamilton
Spike22 Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Reality First of all I think it was time for a change, I think parties simply get stale and need time to rebuild and come up with some fresh ideas with new people. I think this election sent a message that corruption, scandle and entitlement are at least getting the visibility they deserve, the democratic process was followed and the governing party was voted out of office. We will see if the same BS continues on the hill, I fully suspect it will due to the culture that permeates throughout Ottawa with all parties. You have to have a just culture, one that puts country before self or the party to which you are affiliated. This is not the case in Canadian politics. Each organization, community, town, village, city and province wants, wants and wants more. The way it works here is you bug the crap out of me your MP until they say "I will get you the funds to help build the Jane Doe Memorial Arena". What the hell? We are real downhomers when it come to ass scratching politics and it will only continue with every union, car maker, farmer, fisherman, military leader, environmentalist, day care workers, healthcare workers, universities etc etc begging for limited dollars. I see these continues pressures along with kissing the other parties butts a difficult challenge and I see us again at the polls in 12-24 months. Don't worry everyone it only cost us the taxpayer $275m+ each time we go through this process ugh. Quote

Melanie_ Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Mulroney left in a scandal if you all forgot, his government screwed us on NAFTA ...blah blah blah.... Can we make an amendment to Godwin's Law, so that rather than comparing to Hitler it also counts when someone brings Mulroney in, for no good reason on earth? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_Law I voted Liberal, but I'm OK with the way it turned out. A minority government gives us the chance to test drive the Conservatives, and they get the chance to convince Canada that they really are capable of governing (I, for one, will need convincing, but am willing to have an open mind). It also gives the Liberals a chance to get their act together, and perhaps tone back the arrogance a bit. Argus Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 You also must fault Martin for allowing corrupt MPs to run again. What corrupt MPs ran again? Well, the 7 unnamed Quebec MPs who got the kickback money added to their election campaigns. The Liberals still ahven't named them, right? Tony Valeri lost in Hamilton. That means the Ng family paid him $250,000 and got nothing in return - unless, of course, the payment was for services already rendered. geoffrey Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 unemployment was down to the lowest it has been in 30 years Only due to Alberta's wealth, which has zero to do with Martin. Martin's ignorance and mismanagment has cost how many jobs in the auto sector. And all the Maritimers live in Alberta now, the rest will just remain unemployed indefinitly. Martin's done nothing for jobs in this country. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
