Eddy Posted February 18, 2024 Report Posted February 18, 2024 We sure do seem to have descended into the "cultural depths" of phishing robo-calls in Canada, haven't we...? Not a day goes by here where I don't receive at least one -- sometimes as many as three! -- such solicitations originating from call centres within the Indian sub-continent. The heavy accents & the background noise of other callers is a dead giveaway. Nothing "racial" being implied here whatsoever, so rein-in your politically-correct horses. Thus far I've refused the the ready, willing, & more than able assistance of Punjabi VISA, Punjabi Amazon, Punjabi Border Security, the Punjabi branch of the Canada Revenue Agency, to name but a few. And enlisting any support from CRTC to stop these intrusions is pointless because...well, there just isn't any support to be had. Even though an increasing number of these scammers somehow use locally-based fake numbers, I guess the CRTC still considers them all to be "off-shore", hence untouchable. I used to take delight in stringing these individual callers along, but I guess they've grown wise to my tone & mannerism in that regard because they now simply hang-up the line on me. So it's come down to this all being yet another feature of the Canadian culture & in fact, more than boring & annoying, both. Quote
