Hicksey Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Liberals Down and Out Read the article. Top Liberals admit they're likely to lose and lament about being out of power for up to ten years. Amazing. Quote "If in passing, you never encounter anything that offends you, you are not living in a free society." - Rt. Hon. Kim Campbell - “In many respects, the government needs fewer rules, but rules that are consistently applied.” - Sheila Fraser, Former Auditor General.
shoop Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Great story. Too bad senior Liberals don't speak on the record. I know that is the way this things go, but it would be nice to put a fact to this quote. "The campaign is in a bizarre state ... There's no policy they won't change overnight if a focus group says it's not popular," said one senior Liberal. "This has been a lousy government and frankly they deserve to lose." The dithering is what has lost them the election. Quote

Until its official we won't know. But when we see who tried to force Martin out so they can rebuild we'll have a good idea. Canuck E Stan Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 More bad news for Martin's Liberals. Key Liberals defect and join others in supporting Peter Kent Also joining Peter Kent's Big Tent was the Chairman of the National Post,David Asper. David Asper and his family have been well-known for their past support for the Liberal Party. In his statement, Mr. Asper said in a prepared letter of recommendation that, "the need for a man of Peter's integrity became even more clear to me after hearing the Prime Minister say during the last English language debate that 'we've got to have a more intelligent debate. Enough is enough: this idea of drive-by smears doesn't make it true', and then the next day launch a series of Liberal advertisements that are some of the most insulting, base attack ads that I have ever seen. The Prime Minister is correct. Enough is enough. It's time for a change and Peter Kent is someone who represents not only change itself, but change for the better." Messy campaign reflects Martin as PM What's wrong with a Liberal campaign now free-falling toward a jolting landing is what's wrong with Paul Martin as prime minister.Contradictory, inconsistent and still searching for a focus, this Liberal tour and Martin's leadership reflect the dangers of power exercised without discipline. Even the most desperate attack advertising — and new Liberal television spots shout panic — can't hide that this election isn't about Stephen Harper. It's about expectations Martin couldn't meet, a pinball government that ricochets bumper-to-bumper and a ruling party so accustomed to privilege that skimming public money to pay friends is just taking care of business. Quote "Any man under 30 who is not a liberal has no heart, and any man over 30 who is not a conservative has no brains." — Winston Churchill
