eire1 Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Here are some riding predictions. Oakville Terrance Young of the CPC is coming on strong in Oakville. He has succeeded in reuniting the old PC vote with the CA/Reform vote. Liberal MP Bonnie Brown benefitted from the split in 1993, 1997 and 2000. Many PC voters did not initially accept the creation of the CPC so stayed home or voted Liberal in 2004. Brown has not run a strong enough campaign to overcome the trend in the CPC's favour. CPC Pickup from Liberals Beaches-East York Maria Minna, the stupidest Liberal MP from Toronto, finally has a fight on her hands with NDP Marilyn Churley. The Tories are stronger this time as well with Peter Conroy. The Green Leader Jim Harris is running in the riding and is getting some of the old PC vote. NDP Pickup from Liberals Oakridges-Markham Lui Temilowski, the Liberal incumbent is not a star but he is blessed in his opponents. One could not ask for a better opponent than Bob Callow of the CPC who acts like he thinks that one wins elections by sitting on his arse for the entire campaign. This one should have been a CPC Pickup but Bob Callow has dragged down his party in the riding. Liberal Hold Quote

fellowtraveller Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Anne McLellan, Edmonton Centre. I thought this was finally safe for Landslide Annie, but maybe not now.... Her CPC opponent again is a guy called Laurie Hawn, who is a 30 year Canadian Forces veteran. He is making some hay over the Lberal attack ad featuring the miltary in Canadian cities, going the personal indignation/personal insult route. This has followed a Hawn stunt which features an envelope sent to homes in the riding which has a note inside saying "If this envelope was from the Liberal Party, it would be stuffed with cash". Obnoxious or funny, depends on your perspective..... CPC in a squeaker How is Belinda Stronach doing in her riding? Quote The government should do something.

Obnoxious or funny, depends on your perspective..... CPC in a squeaker How is Belinda Stronach doing in her riding? That's funny, but dirty from where I stand. The Liberals made that bed and now they're whining because they have to lie (pun intended) in it. Chatham-Kent I think Dave VanKesteren will sqeak it out over the Liberal Comiskey, leaving Kevany to irrelevance like her leader Layton. Big Blue Machine Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Niagara West-Glanbrook I think Dean Allison (incumbent) has it in the bag. Quote And as I take man's last step from the surface, for now but we believe not too far into the future. I just like to say what I believe history will record that America's challenge on today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow. And as we leave the surface of Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came and god willing we shall return with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17. geoffrey Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Calgary South-West... Harper by at least 95% haha. (have to prop up my locals right?) Seriously though, Pontiac and Louis St. Laurent to CPC. Maybe Beauce and Lotbiniere-Chutes for good measure. Add more in the next week to the Quebec tally if more negative ads released. Melanie_ Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Winnipeg South - Reg Alcock really faces no competition. Liberal win. Winnipeg South Centre - tough fight between Conservative Ken Cooper and Liberal Raymond Simard, but I expect Simard to pull it out in the end. Winnipeg Centre - NDP Pat Martin in a landslide. Riverwind Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Richmond: Raymond Chan by a nose. The conservative is a parachute candidate with no connections to Richmond and a Christian zealot - not a good thing in an multi-ethnic urban riding. However, Chan's position on compensation for head tax payers could hurt him. South Richmond-Delta: John Cummings (CPC) by a wide margin.
