Canuck E Stan Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Martin's education plan But the promise was quickly denounced by the Canadian Federation of Students, which said the Liberal education plan would leave students in worse shape than when the Liberals took power in 1993.The 50-50 assistance plan with its $3,000 yearly cap announced by Martin does nothing to help students pay rising tuition rates, they say. The federation wants core federal funding to the provinces to be restored to $7 billion to $8 billion annually, something Martin promised to do in the 2004 campaign but has not yet done. After making promise after same promise, election after election,it just doesn't wash anymore. So much for Martin getting the student vote. Yaro Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 "In worse shape than when the Liberals took power in 1993."Sounds like this country if you ask me... Then let there be no doubt, you are an idiot. Canada is in FAR better shape then it was in 1993, and anyone who thinks that students will be voting conservative is getting melted brain syndrome. It will never be as good for students as it was in 1993 because we have to compete with the US and other jurisdictions that provide far less in the way of educational opportunity. Quote

shoop Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Childish name-calling is not allowed here Yaro. What makes you think you don't have to follow the rules? Oh I get it, because you are a Liberal. BAH Then let there be no doubt, you are an idiot.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quote
geoffrey Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 What's different between this promise and the last 12 years of education promises? This isn't even Federal jurisdiction anyways. I'm a university student. I'm also knowledgable enough to understand that most people don't go to university, more focus needs to be given to people in the trades and other forms of education. You'll see a real difference made there, not with us 'privledged' university class. Universities are full. Making them more affordable only compounds this problem. Anyone can save up enough to go. This is simply a ploy to gain some more student support, something I bet in-party polling has shown to be weak for the Liberals. I mean really, this is a man who has done everything he can to cut social programs and health care. Martin's father was a true man of the left, this Paul Martin is someone who is pretending he is.
