Tory caucus to prepare for sneak

The Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party said Tuesday that his party is expecting the minority Liberal government will attempt to orchestrate their own defeat in the House of Commons and force an election this fall before the findings of the Gomery report are released.

In an interview with PoliticsWatch, Conservative MP Peter MacKay said preparing for a possible early election will be a priority at Wednesday's Conservative caucus meeting in Halifax.

He said MPs will discuss election readiness and how to make sure they're not caught off guard by a "sneaky and disingenuous" Liberal attempt to collapse their own government and blame the opposition parties.

The Liberals could orchestrate their defeat by introducing a financial bill or other item that "will put the opposition parties offside," according to MacKay, who added that he did not think that was out of the realm of possibility for Prime Minister Paul Martin.

Describing Martin as the "most disingenuous opportunistic prime minister we've ever had," MacKay said Martin "would blame us for Jimmy Hoffa's disappearance" if it helped him stay in power.

These Atlantic MPs sometimes use quite descriptive language.

I think all parties are very wise to prepare for an election this Fall. The moment the Liberals see themselves in majority government territory PM Martin's pledge to Canadians about 30 days after Gomery will go out the window. Of course there is going to be a preliminary report out this Fall, and Martin may try to suggest that is what he meant when he got down on his hands and knees on national TV and begged Canadians to keep him in power until Gomery released his report.

The Gomery scandal is not enough to change my vote. If the conservatives were ever to pass a budget, it would result in fiscal policies I do not agree with. I do not wish to see my tax dollars go towards military expenditures. The Gomery scandal has been blown way out of preportion.

I love how Paul Martin's opponents try to smear him by presuming that he would act in certain way when there is abolutely no evidence that he would act that way. Martin said he would wait until the Gomery inquiry reported and he will wait.

The fact that the Liberals called early elections before does not count as 'evidence' because this time Martin has staked his personal reputation on not calling an early election.

To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.

This post shows how ignorant you actually are. You would prefer the Liberals steal from Canadian taxpayers pockets in order to get them re-elected????

Are you not a taxpayer or are you one of the people who got paid from the sponsorship program and want to get it reinstated????

This stuff is FACT! To say it is not enough to change your vote is funny, because what would it take?? Martin gotta go sleep with your wife? Would that sway your vote?? Any Liberal to call a Conservative close-minded is a hypocrit!!!

What are these fiscal policies that the Conservatives would pass that you don't agree with??? So let our military fall to a more pityful level is what you stand for?Are you an insider on their caucus meetings to know what their fiscal policies would be??? Please enlighten us!!

Why pay money to have your family tree traced; go into politics and your opponents will do it for you. ~Author Unknown

And his reputation is worth what??? Nothing!! Just because they have pulled a few funnies when it comes to an election is no proof??? My god, what world do you live in?? If PM thinks he is ahead in the polls he will purposely lose a confidence vote to get an election, then run to the media and say it wasn't my fault...I wanted to wait!!!!

He is so fake and will go any which way the wind blows! We need to be rid of this wingnut!!
