Well finally at least some of these political parties are suggesting some concrete action to deal with us being jerked aound by the US with this useless NAFTA agreement.

I really would like to know what the different political parties are proposing to address this crisis.

So far we have had:

I actually agree with you on this one but primarily because I believe the Terasen takeover is a bad deal for the large number of Canadian shareholders that hold the stock because it provides a reliable stream a dividends. This deal simply takes those dividends and hands them over to an American company for some short term capital gain and leaves people who wanted those dividends to try find another stock in a overpriced market that has a rapidly shrinking number of blue chip Canadian companies.

Does this sound like the kind of people we want running our gas pipelines in Canada? I don't think so.

The rhetoric is starting to heat up. It seems like this issue will be dominating our Fall session of Parliament.

I am a shareholder of Teresen and I don't like the deal. The fact is this deal only benefits some of the shareholders (the short term speculator types) and the management who get big bonuses. Long term holders of the stock end up with a considerably less reliable company.

Well, vote against the deal then. But if the government kills the deal for political reasons, the message its sends to investors, both private and public, is that the government will interfere for political reasons. That increases risk and shaves multiples off stocks, all stocks, not just Terrasen.

So, in other words, we are to let into Canada any corporation for profits, no matter how bad a company they are. I don't think so.

That's a different argument mirror. You would punish a narrow group of shareholders in an action that would have broad ramifications for the market, and thus for people's savings, with an action that would not alter the administration's stance one iota.
