mirror Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Everyone moans and groans about how terrible this and that government is. So let's rearrange the tables and discuss which governments in your recent memory have been the best governments in Canada, whether they be federal, provincial, or municipal. And please explain why? crazymf Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 The best in my recent memory was old Bill Hawrelak, mayor of Edmonton. Crookeder than a dogs hind leg, but good for the city. Ralphie was great as mayor of Calgary, but has been undeniably good for Alberta. I respect a man who says he's going to do something and then does it. Joe Who tried that back when he won his minority government away from Pierre Truebucks and said that the gas tax needed to be raised. Trudeau just had to come back from retirement and say no way, gets himself re-elected and then raises it more in smaller increments over the next year. That's why I don't think much of Trudeau. Paul Martin, in my opinion, learned his sneaky ways from Cretien, who learned it from Trudeau. He's not good for any part of this country, but I tell you what, he'll be richer in his own pocket when he leaves. That's his agenda. There you have it, best to the worst. apollo19 Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 My personal choice would go to the BCLiberals (provincial) and Gordon Campbell, for taking BC out of the pits and giving people choices, instead of the NDP dictating what to do. Quote
