JamesHackerMP Posted December 12, 2018 Report Posted December 12, 2018 (edited) Civilization has long represented many of the world's greatest empires, and I've seen Canadians comment on the message boards (for the game) that it's a pity their country hasn't been represented. Well, now it has! https://www.civilization.com/ (scroll down a bit to see) The leader representing Canada will be Wilfred Laurier. Some of this gave me a pretty good chuckle. Check it out. JamesHackerMP Posted December 13, 2018 Author Report Posted December 13, 2018 I like how Canada can't be attacked, or attack, without causus belli or whatever the game calls it. (The Faces of Peace?) And you can build the "ice hockey rink". Too funny.' Why Laurier and not MacDonald, though, I wonder. Quote "We're not above nature, Mr Hacker, we're part of it. Men are animals, too!" AngusThermopyle Posted December 13, 2018 Report Posted December 13, 2018 I started playing Civ when it was first released and I'm still playing it now. Truly a masterpiece of gaming. Honestly I can't think of anything I don't like about this game, sure there are minor things in each iteration but the game has always been solid. It sets the benchmark in strategy games. JamesHackerMP Posted December 14, 2018 Author Report Posted December 14, 2018 I like playing Gilgamesh, personally (Sumeria). Neat how you can build a ziggurat that beefs up your scientific output. Iznogoud Posted December 20, 2018 Report Posted December 20, 2018 The game seems to have covered almost every possible Canadian stereotype. I might just play it. I really like the tiny Zamnonis on the hockey rink. Quote
JamesHackerMP Posted December 21, 2018 Author Report Posted December 21, 2018 (edited) The mounties are cute lol. And they get a defensive bonus for fighting adjacent to a national park. I'm going to wait on the expansion since it's $40. Question is, does Laurier speak both in English and in French? Otherwise, he can get into trouble Which "stereotypes" are embraced? Besides hockey and mounties of course. Edited December 21, 2018 by JamesHackerMP Quote "We're not above nature, Mr Hacker, we're part of it. Men are animals, too!"
