First tell me what point there is to your questions. They simply make no sense in the context.

Then, no, it is not possible to establish even an individual identity without a reference.

Why do you not instead pay some heed to what I wrote. Canada was established as an opposition to the USA. It was born to be different. How is it possible to say what we are without recognising that and comparing?
