theloniusfleabag Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 The US seems to be putting it's chess pieces in place with this appointment. Putting a pro-war, 'America and Israel first' 'Likudnik' in charge of the World Bank responsible for the development of the poorer nations, is like having Saddam Hussein (or Hitler) in charge of the Salvation Army. Something tells me it might end up being a little biased. The reception throughout the world to the news has been lukewarm at best. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4356745.stm A British-based campaign group, the World Development Movement, described the nomination as a "truly terrifying appointment". Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize winner and a former World Bank chief economist, said: "Choosing the right general in the war against poverty will not assure victory, but choosing the wrong one surely increases the chances of failure." Montgomery Burns Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 One has to recognize Dubya's sense of humor. The Wolfowitz move is like pulling the wings off a butterfly. The morosely paranoid Loony Liberal Leftists are driven deeper into insanity. What's the reason for this Wolfowitz Derangement Syndrome that is creating such a brouhaha in Europe? I suspect it's the fear that Wolfowitz might want to make all aid dealings of the bank transparent. That wouldn't reflect well on Europe, would it? "Call me crazy, but I think they [iraqis] were happy with thier [sic] dumpy homes before the USA levelled so many of them" -- Gerryhatrick, Feb 3, 2006.
Herman Simancas Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 Yeah, i've these news. It's going to be so biased, like you mentioned. I hope Europe unites as a whole nation someday to combat these American threats. Quote
