The Terrible Sweal Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Did anyone see the vicious hatchetjob the media did on Paul Martin over the Syria comment. Outrageous and disgusting. Martin said: "... it is clear that, if the Syrians are in Lebanon, it is because peace should be kept, and there was certainly a failure." But here is how one media source 'reported' it: "Paul Martin said yesterday that Syrian troops are in Lebanon to keep the peace, ..." Now if that isn't the most outright abusive distortion, I don't know what is. Quote

I miss Reagan Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I agree as well. However, the only surprising part of it is they did it to a Liberal PM. (still I noticed Duffy and Oliver backing up the PM). The media does the same thing to Harper and Bush all the time. The only problem is there are people who hate these guys so much they'll eat up negative spin that is fed to them. Newfie Canadian Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I'm surprised it got as much attention as it did, especially considering there was little discussion about PM PM's slip over our invasion of Norway in WWII instead of Normandy. I'm guessing the difference is the Norway comment was a history slip up, while the Syria comment is a poilcy issue?
