Hicksey Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Has anyone heard whether this motion was adopted by the North Van District council? I think if we did a poll on favourite areas to live in Canada, North Vancouver would top or come very close to topping the list. Quality of life factors are huge there. It's a great place!Bylaw would ban trucks from left lane They already are at the "top or come very close to topping the list" of dumb cities after that stupid proposal, IMO. My proposal? Have two speed limits on the highways, the speed limit for trucks being 10 to 15 percent slower than for cars. It's the same proposal that I already proposed to the Washington State Governor. I wonder if they adopted it? That doesn't work. I can't count how many cars I've seen hit the back ends of trucks while passing because they understimated how fast they were approaching the slower truck. Or how many cars I've seen sliding out of control off the roads because they slammed on their brakes when all of a suddent they're right on top of the truck they were 200ft back from just a second ago. Why don't the drivers of cars just respect trucks? And truck drivers just respect cars? And both respect the law? That would solve all. Agreed Hicksey, no need to have different speed limits, there would be a cost involved with that for all consumers. Truckers would take longer to get places, and spend more fuel doing it, so it would cost us all more to pay for them which would be passed on in higher prices of everything. When will these people realise that not every product can be produced within 2 feet of their front door. Transportation of goods is neccessary. Lets give our product movers some respect! I fear most car/SUV drivers more than I fear truckers, at least the licensed ones (which we have issues with license fraud in Alberta). When I'm driving through the mountains, I tuck in behind a truck, get a nice draft to save on fuel costs, and let him clear the snow for me! Not tailgating of course. To all those truckers that have lead the way to Panorama in the snow, bless you, I owe you a beer. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
