hot enough
This is a thread where you can post and discuss your favorite quotes on the above topic. Propaganda is to a democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state. -Noam Chomsky And who has a better propaganda system than the USA? It's kind and generous. A lie, but most believe it. It's a beacon of freedom. Another lie. Over 70 illegal invasions and counting, tens of millions murdered, ... upon whom does this beacon of freedom shine? On US propaganda, how it is different from other western nations, slightly. "The United States is unusual among the industrial democracies in the rigidity of the system of ideological control - indoctrination, we might say - exercised through the mass media." Noam Chomsky “The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum....” ― Noam Chomsky, The Common Good Professor Chomsky really hits the nail on the head with that one. It's the great fallacy that everyone loves to mouth - "you don't get to speak your mind in [bad country]". hot enough
"The men the American people admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth." - H. L. Mencken Isn't this the truth? The biggest liars of all, the founding fathers - a phrase that oozes propaganda, are admired as gods, when they were nothing but terrorists who overthrew the existing government just so they could replace it and keep all the loot for themselves. Just one band of gangsters replacing another band of gangsters. All men are created equal, right!! It was enshrined in the top document, Indians are, what, 3/5 of a person? True, after the massacres! Blacks have never seen equality to this day. Count all the other ethnic groups who were never equals, virtually all the peoples of the world who had racist slurs substituted for their ethnic group, just to help US citizens hate these people enough to encourage support for another illegal invasion. "We Americans are the ultimate innocents. We are forever desperate to believe that this time the government is telling us the truth." Sydney Schanberg "If you think any American official is going to tell you the truth, then you're stupid." Arthur Sylvester, assistant secretary of defense for public affairs, to American journalists, 1965 But still there are some who believe.
hot enough
And still, they ruminate, pretending they have a say in the slaughter of innocents. You tax dollars, going to help western governments murder children. "The general public are viewed as no more than ignorant and meddlesome outsiders, a bewildered herd. And it's the responsible men who have to make decisions and to protect society from the trampling and rage of the bewildered herd. Now since it's a democracy they - the herd, that is - are permitted occasionally to lend their weight to one or another member of the responsible class. That's called an election." -Noam Chomsky Madeleine Albright - The deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children was worth it for Iraq's non existent WMD's
