jacee Posted June 25, 2016 Report Posted June 25, 2016 "You don't get to be average & blame Black people." And while Fisher's academic record was solid, her grade point average (3.59) and SAT scores (1180 out of 1600) failed to distinguish her from other applicants vying for the remaining spots. The university also noted that even if Fisher had received a perfect Personal Achievement Index (PAI) score a score granted based on students' essays, leadership, service and "special factors" such as race and socioeconomic status her Academic Index (AI) score a score granted based on students' SAT scores, high school curriculum and class rank still would not have been sufficient to earn an acceptance letter. Of the accepted students with lower combined AI/PAI scores than Fisher, 42 were white, four were Latino and one was black. But 168 black and Latino students with "combined AI/PAI scores identical to or higher than (Fishers)" were also rejected, according to UT. Fisher's case was rejected in lower courts, a move which was upheld in a 4-to-3 vote by the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday. Fisher believed she was a victim of Affirmative Action, believed it so strongly she took it all the way to the US Supreme Court Fisher was wrong: She just didn't make the cut. How many other complainers are wrong? How many other complainers about 'Affirmative Action' just don't deserve what they think they do? I've seen a lot of complaints about Affirmative Action in discussions here, but I've never seen any hard data to support them. If it exists, now's the time to present it! Food for thought. . Quote
cybercoma Posted June 26, 2016 Report Posted June 26, 2016 I wonder how it feels to find out you're racist trash that thinks the only way people of colour can make it is through affirmative action. Meanwhile, they actually outranked her. Quote
TimG Posted June 26, 2016 Report Posted June 26, 2016 How many other complainers about 'Affirmative Action' just don't deserve what they think they do?How many people claiming systematic racism just don't deserve what they think they do? Quote
jacee Posted June 26, 2016 Author Report Posted June 26, 2016 How many people claiming systematic racism just don't deserve what they think they do? You tell me. Where's your data? . Quote
jacee Posted June 26, 2016 Author Report Posted June 26, 2016 (edited) Where is yours? In the OP.You made a claim. Back it up. . Edited June 26, 2016 by jacee Quote
TimG Posted June 26, 2016 Report Posted June 26, 2016 (edited) In the OP.The OP is what one calls an anecdote. It is not data. Based on that anecdote you asked about all of the other people that blame affirmative action when they just don't measure up. You offered no data. You just speculated. Using the same anecdote I asked about all of the people who claim systematic racism when they just don't measure up because blaming others for personal failing is a common human trait and is certainly not limited to white people. If you can speculate without offering data then so can I. Edited June 26, 2016 by TimG Quote

TimG Posted June 26, 2016 Report Posted June 26, 2016 Do you at least have one "anecdote"?I am using your anecdote as evidence that people do blame others for their own failings and will use the legal system to get what think they deserve. The choice of action depends on the person. In the OP the person attacked affirmative action. If a person is a minority they would blame systematic racism. They are two sides of the same coin. Quote
