What Canadian do you know who is paranoid?

I don't think Canadians are worried about much at all.

generally extreme conservatives are paranoid, they see reds under beds everywhere...

That's true. But, who's going to populate these places? How are goods going to be provided in a relatively cost-effective manner?

The way the Inuit are pumping out babies you may have your answer right there. Colonial projects typically were launched with the poor and criminals. A new law like Parole to the North Pole brrrr. is something that could occur.

They need to develope way more hydroponics and green houses some micro nuclear plants up there would probably be of great benefit since the population is so low, and nuclear power works year round to fuel green houses. Transport costs are massive up there.

0 emissions gas and oil plants are also something to look to... massive amounts of methane can be harvested from warming tundra, which in turn can be burned for energy to fuel green houses.

There is a lot of room for development and sustainance. Living costs are just too high for most people to consider moving there. Once more infrastructure exists such as caribou and reindeer farms, greenhouses and heating oil and gas in abundance. Costs will come down, and the local economy will imporve. With northern shipping routes to be opened costal areas will also have an economic incentive.

They need indoor stuff though.. seaside has an advantage because there is bedrock rather than shifting mud.

With global warming happening and the Arctic Ocean opening up its waters these recent years, should Canada enforce/maintain a stronger military presence in the Canadian North?

With the waters opening up and vast mineral resources at stake, should Stephen Harper do something about maintaining our sovereignty up there? I feel Canada could do a bit more myself.

Yes Canada should. But global warming is non-existent and is not a reason. National integrity is.

Harper should not be tricked into endorsing a notion of global warming being a valid theory.

Already, the Russians, the Danish and the Americans are claiming various bids of the North for potential natural resources. Heck, even the Russians planted a Russian flag under the Ocean up north.

So, what do you think?

As in the Hans Island controversy? I advocated (and was banned on this) on Rabble sending Graham up to Hans Island to marry a musk oxen (male of course) a caribou and a male wolf.

Why trick? Is this trying to get the baby to eat the vegetables even though they arn't as good as the Banana, here comes the airplane...

Are you a holocaust denier too?

ffs have you looked at the ice data in the north? You think you launch a bunch of nukes outputing tons of thermal energy and you don't expect the planets thermal level to increase? That is just one source of thermal generation that isn't natural to earth. Of course it rises, where is the offset of artificial cooling?

Then it is a question of heat capture through atmospheric conditions including ocean depth.. fact is ocean levels have risen.. ocean temperatures have not cooled so more heat is in the oceans... Do you know how much of the earth is covered in ocean?

are you honestly still denying global warming?

http://ocean.nationa...mperature-rise/

make some lipton cup of soup and tell me it ain't hotter than it was in the pack.

Now I'm not saying something needs to be done to stop it, but I am saying that you should take it into consideration.

I think that things should be ok if things progress for the next 5 years but I think the rate of climb will go up again during the next solar incline. (since technically for the next 5 1/2 years we are suppose to be in a solar radiance decline before the next incline starts..

But it is clear temperature is going up gradually, and it is doing things

http://en.wikipedia....iki/Solar_cycle

Bad economic times and industrial stagnation help keep things cool though so we have a positive outlook on global warming.

It is just a no brainer, you realease all the energy and you don't expect temperature to go up.. touch a match before and after lighting it and tell me that thermal energy once converted doesn't make things warm up...
