Guest Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/netherlands/9719247/Amsterdam-to-create-scum-villages.html Amsterdam is to create "Scum villages" where nuisance neighbours and anti-social tenants will be exiled from the city and rehoused in caravans or containers with "minimal services" under constant police supervision. I have to admit I checked the date to make sure it wasn't April 01. Quote
Merlin Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 This sounds like a reasonable solution to me. If people cannot live properly within society in general then they should be removed and housed in an area where the police can keep a close eye on them. Have all the bad people in one area makes sense. As a disabled person I would feel safer knowing that the bad people are in "scum village" instead of trying to make me into a victim. Let's see how it works out. Quote
Bonam Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) Hmm... I am not so sure. What are the criteria for "anti-social behavior" that warrant being exiled to one of these camps? Hopefully it's not making some comments that people find offensive. Also, hopefully, there would be safeguards in place to make sure neighbors can't just rat on people they don't like and have them sent to these camps... There better be a full legal process with the usual burden of proof standards before such a punishment can be carried out. Otherwise, these could very quickly turn into internment camps for the undesirables, where people are arbitrarily shipped off and forgotten about, at the whims of bureaucrats. And that is just a few short steps away from some of Europe's darker moments in history... Edited December 4, 2012 by Bonam Quote

It reminds me of the frivolous law suits in the thousands by convicts with nothing better to do. Obviously they too need some controlling method. Those that confront and repeatedly challenge the accepted rules of decency, reason and sense have to be expect and accept that there will be consequences. Quote
