Guest Peeves Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 I don't know. I didn't take it as a competition for the most gut-wrenching story at all. The pageant aspect of it doesn't seem anything more to me than a different approach to exploring their personal stories on air. There are plenty of documentaries on the subject already. Or maybe they could have shared their stories on coffee-talk daytime TV. But it's all been done before, this is just a unique way to celebrate their stories. I don't really see anything wrong with it. The women also look like they enjoyed it. A reasonable review. More criticism of the old Jewish women here than there was for the Iranian Holocaust cartoon issue. Live and let live. They are the fortunate ones that lived to celebrate. Quote

jbg Posted February 2, 2013 Report Posted February 2, 2013 Why can any other segment of society have a "Miss whatever" pageant and that's to be respected - yet this isn't? I see it as no more tasteful/distasteful than any other beauty pageant. There are some people for whom nothing happening in Israel is right, unless innocent people die. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
