This was a hard one and came down to Israel vs. England. I have to say that Israel is America's greatest friend and vice versa. Israel has put it's sovereignty on the line on many occasions for the interests of the United States. This relationship goes back to 1948. Both countries have worked together in supporting each other's goals, morals and way of life.

While England has portrayed similar traits, they have become much better friends recently (after 9/11) and it can be argued that it was due to the heroism of Tony Blair, who went against popular opinion.

Most Israelis see the benefit or the need to be friends with U.S.

Israel is a virtual protectorate of the US (though it has been going against the wishes of the US administration lately and not been punished). You're the American, but I wonder what America gets out of the transaction besides the support of it's powerful domestic Jewish lobby.

In any case, US support for Israel makes a lot of Arabs unhappy with the US for various reasons and is likely to continue to do so well into the future. As Israel makes more enemies and isolates itself further from the world, I'm not sure how happy the US people will be to also share Israel's enemies only for the sake of sharing Israel's enemies.

All too often the prize goes, not to who best plays the game, but to those who make the rules....

Dear bibby,

America has no friends, nor does it want any. It only has competitors.

Israel never has, nor ever will, 'put it's soveriegnty on the line'.

Both countries have worked together in supporting each other's goals, morals and way of life.
This is farcical at best. I urge you to go to Arutz Shiva, 'Israeli National News' website and see what the editorials and news stories have to say. Definitely not 'pro-american'.

Read 'The Samson Option' by Seymour Hersh to see exactly why the US rushed military aid to it's 'imperilled ally'.

Would the Special Olympics Committee disqualify kids born with flippers from the swimming events?
