CBC: PMO accused of threatening environmental group

Recommended Posts

... they are the ones that help put the world into the mess it is in.

Good to know the enviros are the ones who polluted the earth, made water undrinkable due to poisons dumped in rivers and lakes. Business' is the real protector of the earth.

Good for harper and he is right the groups are going against thier own country. Harper's job is to do what is right for the country not be dictated to by certain groups ,canadian and foreign. I wish you so called canadians out there, for once have the balls to stand up for this country, and tell the rest of them to go fuck themselves. We have been doing quite well here and there is alot of jealousy out there and there is alot of countries that would love to see us be knocked down a notch or two. So be very carefull what you wish for people.

Did you copy this from the manual?

It is about time someone stood up to these so called enviro's. They are the ones that play loose with the facts, they are the ones that help put the world into the mess it is in. Ya there are a lot of countries that would like to see Canada take responsibility for the devastation wreaked by oil and other extraction industries on the environment, the livelihoods and lives of inhabitants ... in their countries, all over the developing world.

It is one reason why we must keep the pressure on here at home ... because Canada is 'exposed' internationally as irresponsible to downright corrupt in corporate aggression - the single largest violator of human rights and financial corruption (bribery of gov officials) among our peers, developed countries with international prominence in extraction industries.

And it's because we allow those industries function in that reckless manner at home too.

... a fantastic piece of historic Canadian literature, The Silence of the North, a memoir by pioneer trappers-wife, Olive A. Fredrickson, as told to writer Ben East. Frederickson reminisces from her experiences in the north of Alberta and British Columbia in the 1920s when all was wild up there.

Her travels in the then wilderness took her all through the area around Fort McMurray, now the epicentre of the Alberta Tar Sands planetary blight. Here, I quote a poignant and alarming passage from her book, which documents a massive, destructive ice-jam which tears down the Athabasca River, creating destruction and havoc right into Fort McMurray.

I shudder to think that a similar catastrophe today will tear apart the flimsy, earthworks ramparts which shore up the massive and totally poisonous tailings ponds which contain the by- products of dirty-oil production

"...all of a sudden we heard a thunderous noise upriver ..."

Conflict between rich and poor now eclipses racial strain and now eclipses racial strain and friction between immigrants and the native-born as the greatest source of tension in American society, according to a survey released Wednesday.

It's just not as simple as we're good, they're bad so stand up and "tell all the rest of [the world?] to go fuck themselves."

In fact, it's more like ...

Either you're FOR the survival of the earth and its peoples, or you're against it.

If you are the powerful, wealthy benefactors of the most extreme concentration of wealth in history, you are against it.

If you have to 'believe' in them because you work for them, you are the chickens dining at KFC ... :)

It's a disagreement ... a struggle ... but it's not between 'Canada and the rest of the world' ...

But between predators and defenders of the earth.

When predators say 'the good of the country', they only mean their own pockets.
