Shwa Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 There is something wrong with this article, or the research that provides the content. Can't quite put my finger on it, but the end result is that I find it insulting on many levels. "Canadian lifestyle?" Since when has that become a baseline and who decided what it really is? Canadian lifestyle hazardous to immigrant health Integration may not be all good for new immigrants to Canada, at least not when it comes to adopting a lifestyle prone to heart problems.A new multi-ethnic study finds immigrants who have been in Ontario longer actually fare worse in their heart health than recent newcomers. Of the four groups examined — black, Chinese, South Asian and white — immigrants of Chinese and European descent are the most adversely affected by Canadian lifestyle the longer they are here, says the study published Tuesday in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology. So what is the message? Maybe this: “They have to keep up their old, healthy lifestyle or they won’t have the health to enjoy their Canadian dreams.” Quote

Maybe this: I saw an example of our heavey laden protein and fat diet - About 25 years ago I noticed that Asians who seem generically small in stature had off spring in Canada who were growing over 6 feet tall. I guess that what is happening now is that with less fruit and vegetables being consumed by the new and late arrivals is that the kids are taller..but the parents are fatter...oh well - pass the cripsy pork - I love it and in Canada -you can have it by the ton.
