RNG Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 KINGSTON, Ont. — The NDP is apologizing for a biography that stated a rookie MP obtained a diploma from an Ontario college -- when, in fact, she hadn't. The party says a staffer modified the online biography for Ruth Ellen Brosseau without her permission and it regrets the error. Brosseau made national headlines for vacationing in Las Vegas during the election campaign. The NDP released the statement after St. Lawrence College said Brosseau never earned a diploma in advertising and integrated marketing communications from the school -- even though it's included in her NDP biography. A spokesman for the Kingston school says she is not a graduate. The NDP says Brosseau never actually told them she had earned a diploma from the school, and only stated that she had studied there. The party says she is two credits shy from completing the program. The 27-year-old cruised to a stunning election-night victory in the central Quebec seat of Berthier-Maskinonge, even though she never set foot in the riding. The NDP has acknowledged that she must improve her French skills to represent a riding that is 98-per-cent francophone. Brosseau lives in the Ottawa area, some 300 kilometres away from the region. http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/TopStories/20110510/ndp-resume-110510/ Quote The government can't give anything to anyone without having first taken it from someone else.

RNG Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 Is this the first time something like this has happened? Of course not. But I love the hypocrisy shown by the NDP in this case. Not saying that all of them haven`t done the same time and time again. Quote The government can't give anything to anyone without having first taken it from someone else.
fellowtraveller Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Is this the first time something like this has happened? It must be the first time recently it has happened in Quebec, you may have noticed that Quebec can be a tad defensive about linguistic and ethnic purity. It is not the first time that somebody has fallen afoul of official languages. For example, John Crosby of Newfoundland could not really speak either of them and he did pretty well. punked Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 JUST LIKE ROB FORD. Wait RNG why have you never taken Rob Ford to task over this? Seems like a weird double standard you got there. You remember when he ran he was a drop out of Carleton but some staffer wrote on his webpage he graduated from there. Rob Ford and the Conservatives are just as bad as the NDP. Glad we reached an agreement that the Conservatives and the NDP are the same on this one and you apologized for it. Quote

Never claimed otherwise I still think we have better policy then all the other crooks. You guys keep it up though never actually talking about policy and attacking the other guy for the same thing you are doing and you will end up like the Liberal party in 20 years. Keep being Liberals though don't talk about what makes you different, attack people for the samethings your guys do, and never come up with solutions and Jack will be PM before you know it. Again I repeat this is JUST LIKE ROB FORD. You better go lynch him RNG. Quote

I'm hoping the Canadian Libertarian Party will shed it's wingnuts and approach the US model. But I am definitely not Liberal. And I think, with some intelligent regulations, the free market will always provide a greater good for the greater number. RNG Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) Plus, I'm from the west, Rob Ford doesn't register out here. I don't know what is your problem with a guy who obviously the plurality of Toronto folk like. Yah ok if you don't like our system you can hop on a plane and go see the free market in action in Somalia send me a post card will yah? I'll stay in the greatest nation in the world, run by a mixed market economy Canada. Have fun. I wasn't saying you were a Liberal I was saying the Liberal parties problems were that they spent no time focused on the real stuff and were to quick to attack the other side from the samething their own party did. Ie. Attacking a NDP MP for the samething the Conservative Mayor of Toronto did. Quote

RNG Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 I don't know what your problem is with a Lady who won her ridding by 6000 votes. As I said above, I have no problem with the lady, I have a problem with the NDP, and the Cons, and the Libs lying through their teeth. I believe a strong Mix market economy which is well regulated and where workers are protected. If you think Canada is closer to Libertarian then Social Democrat then I can't argue with you because you are clearly delusional. As punked pointed out, something similar happened in Ford's campaign: You remember when he ran he was a drop out of Carleton but some staffer wrote on his webpage he graduated from there. See and what me and party believe is Canada is just fine how it is. There should be some tweaking in regulations and competition but nothing huge. Not like you suggest, so welcome to reality. Quote

punked Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 That's your reality. I guess we will have to wait four years to learn what the plurality thinks. That is just reality. Canada is a mixed market system with government corps competing with private enterprise. Regulations are tight. That is life, that is the system I like, it is the system my party fights for. Quote
